THE IMPERIAL OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATION

 

The Imperial Office of Administration, also known as the Interior Ministry or just the Office, is the primary organization of internal governance and administration within the Holy Orenian Empire and the government department accounting for domestic affairs and policy, organization, control and day-to-day operation of domains administered directly by the Crown, as well as supervision of those domains administered by subordinate governors. It is a civil service body of bureaucrats and officers dedicated to both implementing the Crown’s policy throughout the Empire and maintaining the security, prosperity and continuance of the Imperial nation-state.

 

With a few exceptions such as for the Johannesburg Capital Police, the Office of Administration’s headquarters is located in the capital, Johannesburg, inside the Palace of Saint Adrian.

Nature

 

The goal of any member of the Imperial Office of Administration is to ensure the continued efficient administration of the Holy Orenian Empire, including its constituent realms and Crown dominions. Though the explicit job of any member may vary greatly from tax collection to construction to law enforcement, the overarching premise of the body is that of an organization of civil servants of the public sector dedicating to aiding the government in developing and implementing its policies as effectively as possible while ensuring the day-to-day internal operation of the state in all its fields and channels.

 

As with all reformed government departments, oathed members of the Office of Administration seeking formal transfers to another department must seek the signed permission of either the Emperor or the Archchancellor. Similarly, members seeking to resign from their post must submit a signed resignation to the Crown. Members cannot be employed by more than one government department simultaneously.

Minister of the Interior: Lord Adrian Rothesay [The_Sultan]

 

The Minister of the Interior heads the Office jointly with the Secretary of the Treasury, taking a seat upon the Closed Council. He presides over all affairs domestic in regards to construction, infrastructure, policing, security and other administrative matters. All other members of the department are subject to him and managed and evaluated by him accordingly. He has the power to direct, appoint, promote and demote his subordinates and reports directly on the Office’s health and efficiency to the Closed Council.

 

Secretary of the Treasury: VACANT

 

The Secretary of the Treasury heads the Office jointly with the Minister of the Interior, taking a seat upon the Closed Council. He controls matters of economic and financial policy, acting as the realm’s chief collector of taxes, excises, tariffs and levies, diligently calculating and recording all yearly Crown incomes and expenses from both the metropolitan area and the Crownlands and the noble demesnes. The Secretary is charged with managing and directing his subordinates to collect funds for the Treasury to which only he, the Crown and the Closed Council (To which he reports) have direct access to, serving effectively as the realm’s most senior accountant whose goal is to ensure its economic prosperity and well-being. Like any worker for the department involved in tax, he is expected to take official, public record of his balance sheets.

 

Auditor-General: Mr. Edmond Manston [Boiendl]


The Auditor-General’s providence is that chiefly of record-keeping, census-taking and statistics. He operates with the realm’s demographics and matters of citizenship, however also has the important role of ensuring that every government or department decision is officially recorded and kept updated. Chief of Police: Ser Ulric von Aesterwald [Sir_Niccum]

 

The Chief of Police administers the Johannesburg Capital Police, seeking to preserve the Emperor’s peace in the capital and its suburbs. In addition to enforcing the Empire’s laws, he is authorized to confer with other members of the Office of Administration and the Closed Council in order to implement and enforce statutes particular to the capital, such as curfews and property taxes. As head of the police force he is likewise obligated to manage its membership, seeing to their discipline and payment as necessary.

Stewards

 

Stewards of the Office of Administration are otherwise untitled functionaries assigned to particular tasks or offices by their superiors.
