The Imperial Court

You enter The Palace of St. Adrian’s throne room as another petitioner exits, an expression of relief on their face as they hurry by.

Flanking you on either side are stands with two levels, with courtiers and petitioners speaking quietly to one another. The guards maintain a heavy presence, all sporting  arbalests as they watch you warily. Behind them, the banners of the various fiefs and historical titles under the Holy Orenian Empire stand tall and proud.

Quietly you are lead past a guard onto the lower level of the stands, leaving you to watch as you wait for your chance to speak.

Standing near the Emperor himself are several Imperial councilors, conversing quietly among themselves. The likes of the Minister of the Interior, and even the Imperial Archchancellor are all in attendance for the public petitions of the day.

It is not long before the parties preceding you finish making their cases, and a herald calls your name. Beckoning to you from the steps onto the stands, a guard escorts you along the carpeted path and before the Emperor himself. His demeanour stiffens as you approach, his brows furrowed as he looks to you inquisitively.

Finally, you are told to halt by the guard escorting you. The Emperor gestures to you after with a slight nod.

“Speak; what do you wish to bring to my attention today?”
