Dreek 1633 Share Posted August 23, 2016 Dwarven Holiday Calendar January: Urguan’s New Year: A celebration of a new stone year in Dwarven History. Great festivities go long into the night, with Dwarves expected to make pledges about how they will act in the upcoming year. Gifts are also given to those who have kept their pledges from the previous New Year. Clergy Day: A day of prayer in the Brathmordakin to celebrate the pantheon equally. It is a required day of religious service, and activities to honor each god are to be performed. Paragon Urguan’s Day: A celebration of the Paragon Urguan. On this day a feast and a great drinking competition shall be held in Urguan’s name. February: National Mining Day: A day spent in the mines by all Dwarves, clearing out a quarry for stone and ores as a group activity. Belka’s Day: A day of love and passion. Proclamations of desire and love are made on this day in honor of Belka. Grand King’s Day: A festival to celebrate the Grand King’s reign. A recount of the current Grand King’s reign alongside the festivities is to be performed. Paragon Kjell’s Day: (Descriptive text to be added upon submission from Kjell) March: Grand Tournament, Winter: A Dwarf-only tournament to determine the best fighter in the nation. Betting stands to place money on each round accompany this event. Paragon Thorik’s Day: A day of celebration for Paragon Thorik’s conquests. On this day a speech recounting Paragon Thorik’s deeds shall be held. National Smithing Day: An event hosted by the smithing guild. Dwarves submit their best piece of smithing for judging to the guild on this day. April: Paragon Yudora’s Day: A day for the Dwarven clan. Paragon Yudora’s role as the Dwarven mother and first Dwarven female shall be celebrated. Mountain Chickens’ Day A day to celebrate the role of the mountain chicken in the battles of Elysium, Kalos, and Anthos. Their eggs shall be painted and a scavenger hunt to collect each type shall be held. Day of the Land: A day for Dwarves to nurture the land within their kingdom and perform restoration projects on the environment. May: Yemekar’s Day: A day for craftsmen. Smiths, woodworkers, and stonemasons are invited to submit their greatest creation for judging. A winner shall be chosen from each category, and each shall be given an honorary title and a sum of minas until the next Yemekar’s day. Anabella’s Day: A day to celebrate all Dwarven mothers and the Dwarven home. Remembrance Day: A day to remember any Dwed who has fallen in battle. A feast and firework show shall be held to give a sending off to each dead Dwarf. Sacrifices of the Dwarf’s favorite food shall be made, a portion of the food being dropped into a bonfire to rise to them in the halls of the Brathmordakin. June: Anabenalia’s Day: It is a harvest festival conducted to honor the stone-annual passage of the celestial body Anbellak near the moon, marking the beginning of the harvest period and symbolizing the arrival of Anbella to the silver halls of Khaz'a'Dentrumm.During this time, a large bonfire is kindled and kept alight throughout the entire day. As the sun sets and Anbellak comes into clear view, priests of the Kirkja Dverga wearing white robes sacrifice nine animals with nine golden blades and use their blood to symbolically quench the fire. Kingdom Day: A day of nationalism as a show of support to the Grand Kingdom. Clan Father’s Day: A day to celebrate all clan fathers. July: 18 Year Remembrance: After the desperate 18 year war against Oren, this remembers the men lost during those 18 years.The firing of explosive arrows into the abyss and the throwing of alchemist’s fire and drinking of hard alcohol. Grand Tournament, Summer: A Dwarf-only tournament to determine the best fighter in the nation. Betting stands to place money on each round accompany this event. August: Urguan’s Birthday: A day to celebrate both the birth of Urguan and the creation of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan. Dwarfsmoot: A day to bring dwarves together for feasting and drinking as well as to discuss issues in Dwarves society, politics September: Dwarven Worker’s Day: A celebration of all the work that Dwarven workers do to uphold society. All workers are allowed leave from their tasks for this occasion. Paragon Hiebe’s Day: (Descriptive text to be added upon submission by Hiebe) October: Paragon Urir’s Day: A day to honor Paragon Urir’s self sacrifice in Aegis. A recounting of his deeds shall accompany a grand feast and other festivities. National Ale Day: A day for drinking and socializing within the taverns, all Dwarves are to be given leave from work. Dungrimm’s Haunt: A day for all Dwarves to parade around in the iron masks of Dungrimm and perform an assortment of trials for different treats and goods. A sermon to honor the dead ancestors shall occur. November: Remembrance Day: A day to remember any Dwed who has fallen in battle. A feast and firework show shall be held to give a sending off to each dead Dwarf. Sacrifices of the Dwarf’s favorite food shall be made, a portion of the food being dropped into a bonfire to rise to them in the halls of the Brathmordakin. Armakak’s Day: A day where all shops are required cut prices drastically and sell products for cheap prices. The Kingdom Shop is to open on this day to sell specialty wares for low prices. December: Confederation Day: Held in honor of the closing days of the blood age when all of the Dwarven clans renounced their allegiance to the Ironborn, and re-confederated with the Remnant of Urguan, and reformed the Kingdom. Clan Fathers from each of the elder clans hold a mock ceremony with the current Grand Kingdom, where they renew/re-enact the blood pact pledged to the king, who represents the new king of Urguan. The Lady’s Light: A day that celebrates magic overall and the use of the arcane. A white comet passes by every stone year on this date Paragon Valen’s Day: (Descriptive text to be added upon submission by Zezimus) Lakhram Minek: Lakhram Minek is known in common as “The Day of Wealth”, it is a celebration to honor the passing of another stone year.
