Definitions

 

What is roleplaying?: Taking the role of a character within a scene of one's choice, filling their life with specifics to grow and form a world along with other characters.

What is metagaming?: The act of using information gained through OOC to aid your character RPly. This can range from someone knowing another's character RPly when not told by anyone, to learning of where some kidnapping guild house their kidnapped through OOC chat, and then having your character somehow stumble upon it.

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Forcing an action upon another character. An example would be emoting your character shoving a blade into another's neck without their knowledge- while it would likely hit, in all honesty, one must always allow the other character to emote another possibility, while keeping realistic.

Biography  

Born to a simple family, Xander I. Irils was brought up by a sailor for a mother along with a hunter as a father. Both well-respected in their lines of work, they made sure their single child would inhibit as many traits of theirs as they could give him as to make sure he'd grow safe and supplied. From tracking to privateering, he'd be taught at somewhat of a young age- around fifteen. The family settling soon to the homeland of his father, Alexander was taught to appreciate and respect the nature and people of his small island home, consisting of a single settlement and jungle, paired with quite a decent trading port. While he wasn't all too sure, he understood from the talk of the elders around him that the land rested by a larger land mass once known as Asulon, only a day away. While his mother taught him basic education- reading, writing, basic mathematics, she would soon bring him out as he began growing to a man, teaching him the ways of a blade. Simple work, though he seemed to enjoy his father's huntsman talents quite some more. Twas by the time he'd grow to be eighteen, his talent practically beamed with his bow and arrow- his swordsmanship slightly less, if not a bit rusted behind.  At this point of his life, he'd begin to grow a sense of wanderlust, and with a few days of talking and embracing his family and fellow hunters, he'd be off- headed with his mother's previous sailing crew to the continent of Vailor.

 

Around a month of sailing, including stops at nearby islands and ports, he'd find those upon the ship varying. Taking in new familiars- from nobles with no choice to slaves with a desire to free themselves. Each one brought forth a new thought to Xander's head, their morals similar to his in ways- though subtle changes seeming to allow him an understanding of how they'd gotten to where they are. They'd share information of fletchery, smithing, all they truly could- some needing as much information as they could gain, and others simply wanting to see the look of admiration upon Xander's face. Some would preach of their Gods, from Harren to Aegis, and some would sing the song of their taverns, bards with lust for adventure similar to his. Talks turned from women to politics, and sometimes- depending on whom he'd be speaking to, straight back to women. Those that had would be returning to their home of Vailor, they'd give him good words of the land. Common knowledge from Kal'Akash to Krinfird, they'd seem to speak of the land as if a distant dream. A decent trip indeed, he'd find himself singing with his mother's old crew, shanties heard through the night as they sailed and drank, the whiskey of the ship a bit less in taste than others- though, hey, still whiskey. Right? It felt like only a week until Xander arrived to the shores, waving off the crew- promises of keeping in touch likely to fade as he hopped off, a bag over his shoulder as his boots guided him forward. His destination, the Orean empire, which several of his fellow travellers had told of being.. safest for his kind, at the least.

 

Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?)

Alexander is known as slightly charismatic to those he comes up upon. His voice articulate- hints of an accent buried deep within, When in company, his personality shows obvious sarcasm and a love to tease and pull at one's strings. His love of drinking shows clear, usually keeping a bottle upon his belt whenever possible. Having a basic respect for all before him, Xander treats all as his familiar, neither lesser nor better than him. Unless given a proper reason to look at another with respect or distaste, he'll mind his business unless needed to intervene.

Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?)

Xander's ambitions are... Somewhat lost, truly. He believes that he desires a name for himself, to be known by good people, to be trusted. While searching for a career, he looks for work that keeps to his morals- unless needing to break for those undeserving of respect. From vigilante to sellsword, whatever pays for his wanderlust is well-appreciated.

Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?)

Xander is of quite decent build, his body well-toned and muscled after years of honest, dishonest, and patient labor as a hunter, fighter, farmer, and many other trades of his time. Most of his features are surprisingly chiseled into place. His hair is dark brown, thick, and growing long. He appears to keep a small part of it threaded in a braid near the back of his head. Various tufts of hair appear slightly lighter than its surrounding, the stress of life and simple insanity getting to his appearance. While he'd cut it, he feels it gives him proof that not all he remembers was a dream. A small braid is woven to the back of Xander's hair, hiding a torsion pick and wrench.
His eyes are a light shade of emerald green. Branch-like scar upon left arm, as well as various tattoos are only some of his key features. Upon his right palm and wrist, a tattoo consisting of a chain connected to a series of bones, a strange word imprinted into the skin.. Along with that, various other markings litter his skin, including a pair of wings to his back, an eye on his shoulder, a three-pronged star on his chest, and a strange bat-like animal on his right bicep. His skin is lightly tanned, knuckles slightly calloused. Xander appears to hold himself up with respect, always trying to keep a charismatic smile, whenever he can. Also on his face, a growing field of unshaven facial hair, just short enough to stop him from shaving. Yet.
