What is roleplaying?: Role-playing is going into the shoes of another character, acting them out, becoming them in a way. You become a completely new person and must act as them, that is why it is called "role" playing because you are literally becoming the role of someone else. 
What is metagaming?: Meta-gaming is using out of character information to somehow boost your character in game, it's a fairly simple concept but I believe again that it is a very important rule. For an example you can not call a friend up on skype while being robbed and tell him to come here to help you, or give away locations etc.
What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Power-gaming is in my opinon role-playing gone to far to boost your character to the best of his abilities. For an example, you get into a bar fight in a town, you simply emote "*punches man in the head and knocks him out*" that would be unfair for the player that you claimed you "knocked out" as it wouldn't be fair role-play what so ever. You can't say in character that you are some god or goddess that can not be killed either.

Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Character’s age: 21
Biography  Logan Brabant was a young man that grew up in the Orenian Empire; at a very young age his parents shipped him off to work on a farm north of the Empire's provinces. While there he learned how to read, write, and most importantly how to wield a sword. At the age of 19 he traveled to the heart of the Empire, the main city of Johannesburg. From growing up on a farm most of his life he couldn't believe that large kingdoms like this existed, he was very pleased. Shortly after his first visit to Johanesburg he quit his job at the farm and moved into the kingdom. He was picked up at a bar to clean tables for a living. After two years of working at the bar he gained a lot of experience to eventually one day open up his own bar in Johannesburg.
At the age of 19 he decided to go out and explore more of the world of Vailor. He visited the elven kingdom of Linandria, he couldn't believe how isolated he was far up north for so long that trees could be so big, he was crazed by the idea. He later decided to change his path in life and be dedicated to exploration, going town to town village to village finding the culture in each kingdom with the only exception of the orcs, San'Garath was completely off limits to him. Logan despised orcs, he knew of their slaving methods, brutal war crimes, and refuses to even go anywhere close to an Orcish settlement.
Logan Brabant hopes to set off on his journey, of exploring the world of Vailor. 

Personality Traits: He is very shy from being so isolated up north, but is trying to become more open, he absolutely hates orcs and goblins. When you get to know Logan he can be more out-going, hes also very good with wielding a sword. 
Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) An explorer, to explore the world of Vailor and to hopefully successfully write a book, detailing each town, their culture, and message to the world of Vailor. 
Strengths/Talents:  His desire to explore the world, as well as wielding a sword as he was taught many years up north. 
Weaknesses/Inabilities: His shyness, some people take him as a fool because of it.
Appearance: 6'3, white skin, black curly hair with a beard, he has blue eyes and is in decent shape, usually wearing a coat around.
