Babadooks 566 Share Posted December 3, 2016 The Archduke of Lorraine, John d’Amaury, stood before a crowd in his seat, the city of Metz. Besides him stood Otto von Metz, one of his knights and leal advisors, and Aurelios, the Archchancellor of Lorraine. The crowd was quiet, waiting in anticipation of whatever announcement the noblemen bore… “Hail to thee, fellow Lotharingians, “ bellowed the Archduke in greeting to his people. “I have summoned you here to tell you of a great happening His Imperial Majesty and I have agreed upon. Before I begin, let me stress that House d’Amaury and House Horen have since their inceptions been great allies. My forebearers served the Empire loyally and with all their will… It is thus that my good friend the emperor and I bind such an alliance with the nuptials.” The archduke would nod, gesturing the chancellor to the stage. He would ascend, coughing as he positioned himself before the podium. “I present…” Silence would hang in the air, the crowd still unsure. “Her Imperial Highness Charlotte Sophia, betrothed of His Grace John d’Amaury!” Raucous applause followed, the crowd going wild as they heard their Archduke was to finally have another wife. The chancellor would step down, and the Imperial Princess up. “Hello, good people of Lorraine. I hope to serve you well, as Archduchess, as John’s wife, and most of all as a fellow citizen of the Empire. I hope to see all of you at our wedding, a few saint’s days from now.” The princess would smile and descend the podium, as the Archduke resumed it with a smile of his own. “Brothers, sisters, join us on our wedding night as we celebrate the prosperity of our great archduchy and our everlasting alliance with House Horen.” That remark would end the proceedings. More applause would follow, and then the archduke would depart, his posse in tow. Word would spread fast; posters would be hung about the realm for all to see, from St. Karlsburg to Linandria. All the people of the Empire would be invited to see the Archduke and Princess wed, and to toast to the Archduchy’s hopefully prosperous future.
