House Ruric was ordered to serve in the Dwarven army, of which they begrudgingly accepted. During the battles of trench-warfare, the Norlander forces would sail behind the Imperial Warband, and use a pincer movement to crush them from behind, aiding the Dwarves and Caliphate in their continued victory in the trench yard, soon, the Dwarves stopped coming to battles, and Norland declared neutrality in the conflict, stating that they would not fight for people who would not fight for themselves.

Eventually, House Ruric had suffered serious decline.  After alienating them from all allies, Edvard was banished from Norland by his younger brother in a peaceful coup This left Eirik Ruric, in a very great predicament.  In order to save his people, he had converted his kinsmen to the glorious path of Canonism, and restored the light of God to Norland and it’s people, Eirik moved on to make some Military reforms, and founded a military order named the Seahelm warband after he had abolished the Red Brothers.

Through this action, Norland became a tranquil haven of worship, and praise in the name of God. Their people becoming significantly less barbaric, and developed a civility amongst themselves that was unheard of for the barbarians of Avor.  Eirik Ruric had led his people to a golden age of rebirth, and ushered in a son that would further continue his name, though still, some were not convinced that they had become more civilized, nations such as the Caliphate and Vandoria continued to war with them.

Making amends with the Holy Imperium, and understanding the connection they shared through religion, House Ruric were named Earldom, and their territory in

Norland secured.  Their vassal, House Drayton, were named Jarl of Valkryia by Earl Eirik Ruric, continuing the good relation with their vassal. With the Earldom of Seahelm, the Jarldom of Crestholm, and the Jarldom of Valkryia, things looked up for the family.  Though, Eirik was still nae convinced his people were entirely safe. He gazed out towards the sea, seeking something else for his people than such a far place from his fellow humans, he yearned for somewhere warmer, and a place where his crops could grow.  He sought home.  A new home.

Spoiler

A relationship was formed with Duke Augustus d’Amuary, which in turn had Eirik swear an oath of fealty for his House, under the Ducal Lord.  With a new foothold in the heartlands secured, Eirik was entirely certain of his house’s safety, as well as his kinsmen.  He named his new land in the heartlands Nyrhold, meaning New-Home in his pagan-tongue.  Still wishing to keep to old tradition, Nyrhold became a huge port for the Duchy, with many longboats to transport soldiers, and a frigate to engage in naval warfare.

Spoiler

As House Ruric continued to gain prominence, the fatal battle of Kal’Vash came to an outbreak, as the Holy Imperium engaged in a heated siege of the keep.  Eirik’s son, Hakon Ruric, a young eager Captain lead Eirik’s warband to a smashing victory in the battle, even leading the final charge when all other commanders fell and no-one was left to rally the forces of Lorraine.  While Hakon may have fell in the battle, he slew nearly a dozen dwarves, and smashed through their final foothold to allow the combined forces of the Imperium to break-through, and win the costly victory over Kal’Vash during The Battle of Hoar Hill.

Following the battle, wounded and battered, the young lord was knighted by John Horen, Emperor of Oren.  He was bestown the title, “The Shipwright,” upon Knighthood, and offered a gentry in the Lorrainian lands, of which he did not desire as he aimed to continue his father’s legacy. In honor of the Knighthood, Eirik granted Hakon a ship of his own, as well as complete dominion over the Warband and the vassals that accompanied it.  Honored to be worthy of his father, Hakon continued to lead the forces of House Ruric to victory and growth.

Spoiler

Hakon Ruric was soon injured severely in battle, he had been speared through his leg, and the wound was infected, his younger brother Sven became Patriarch as Hakon tried to fight off the infection, Sven was not the best leader however, and he soon fell into a depression when his father died in Felsen, left with no guidance, he barely held the family together, his depression soon faded and he married a commoner named Astrid and they had a child, naming him Thomas, as this happened, Beo Ruric who was holding the family's land in Avar began a rebellion, claiming that the land belonged to him, because he had been holding it for so long and Sven showed no interest in it, Sven was outraged and he wrote to the Emperor of Oren, John Horen rallied a large Orenian force to deal with this treachery, and they sailed to Avar to confront Beo, no terms of surrender were made, and so Orenian’s marched onto the snowy fields of Seahelm and met the rebels, Dwarves and Orcs in a Skirmish, the battle was over within moments, an Orenian victory, though Beo had escaped by boat.

Soon after, Augustus D’Amaury was lynched in Felsen by an angry mob, and his son was too young to rule, his son was sent overseas to become educated whilst a regent was placed in his stead, Sven did not get along with this man, and was even repulsed by him, he attempted to remove himself as his Vassal, and eventually it became an imperial court case, it was ruled, after a year in court, that it was never even legal for Augustus D’Amaury to vassalize Ruric family, as they were considered Vassals of the Emperor, the Ruric family moved back to their old home, Norland. A military order took up the name of Nortruppen, and soon began to grow rapidly in size and power, soon the force was able to muster over (60) 6,000 trained soldiers to fight in battles and sieges, the Nortruppen was often a bulk of the Orenian forces used when repelling raids or skirmishes, their numbers were only rivaled by that of the Courlandic forces, soon, the only Oreners actively repelling raids were those of the Nortruppen, the Norlandic people, people not even from the heartlands were the only ones standing against the Flays and Dunamis, Sven decided no more, those who will not stick up for their own, would not stick up for him, he began plots to Secede, then Kili approached Sven and Thomas, with plans of a new land, the Dreadlands, freedom, he promised.

Spoiler

Sven began preparations, stockpiling arms and armor, then he announced his secession, and he aligned with the Dreadlanders, together they launched an attack on Felsen, yet they were defeated when the Orenian forces met them and engaged with a boat skirmish, the Devourer ate the Norlandic boat, the Qaudrinaros, everything went wrong, yet it was a close battle, Orenian forces continued on towards Seahelm, and the remaining forces left to guard it was a skeleton crew, it was easily taken, and the battle was named the sacking of Seahelm, it’s the most infamous battle in Norlandic history, and the most sore subject to speak about for most Norlandic folk, Sven was demoralized, and passed the mantle to his son, Thomas, under him they all retreated to the Dreadlands and began to build a castle, one truly dreadful, it was dubbed the Bonefort, and it was constructed completely out of stolen materials, and looted items.

Spoiler

Thomas married a Peasant woman named Freja and soon they had two children, twins, one was named Haakon after their great uncle, the other was named Njord, Thomas led the Norlandic people to peace and harmony, despite the fact that their homes had been destroyed and family had been slaughtered by Orenians, those that they fought so hard to protect in the past, soon, everyone settled, and accepted their lives, though Sven continued to brood, and he would not lead again, Thomas was a strange lad, and he allowed the undead and harbingers to live amongst them, he was wicked, and twisted, though he soon grew ill, and left the riverlands to his children, Haakon and Njord, they ruled it for a time, though their prominence declined, neither of them were notable leaders, and soon the riverlands were struck with one disaster after the next, it soon got to the point where the problems had stacked up so high, that it felt as if Eirik himself was needed to pull the Norlandic people from their slump, the people’s prayers were answered when Hakon’s leg had finally recovered, he had miraculously defeated the infection, and was back to lead Norland into another Golden age, much like his father had.

Hakon reformed the Ashguard and brought the Norlandic people together, he even, with much reluctance, brought people of Norland and Dreadlands closer, they began raiding and banditing Orenian settlements, and roads daily, before, Norland’s people and the Dreadlands seemed two separate groups, but then under Hakon, the line began to blur, and people began to accept that they lived in the Dreadlands, and that they were Dreadlanders, However, to this day, Hakon expresses his distaste for flaying, alive or otherwise, Hakon, over the years was known to mess around with many harlots, and whores, because of this, he has many bastards, one of them, Javier, was legitimized and named the Heir of the family, together they lead the Ashguard, while trying to restore their reputation, under Hakon’s late Vailorian rule, many tournaments, feasts and other social events were held, during some of these events, Javier met Kaia Kharadeen, the Emiress of Haria, and soon they fell in love.

Spoiler

Orgon, an Orcish spirit had gained tremendous power, and spread a blight among the entire land, the farms yielded no crops, the people began to sicken, and so everyone fled to the cloud temple, some were lucky enough to join the Exodus, while some were left behind, the Rurics and their followers boarded the Ostavarian Pride, and escaped with the rest of the Dreadlanders through some sort of portal, together, they fought off some unnamed fire and water beasts, and sailed towards the new land, Axios.
