Fight or Flight.

 

“My Imperial Prince” A familiar voice, it was Felix, one of the legionnaires. Alexander remained silent, he was going over old maps and battle plans in the Chamber of the Nauzica.

“It’s time we evacuated yourself and your royal kin.”

He let out a tired sigh. It was all falling apart..

“...No, if this is to be our end then I shall go with it.” He said, taking a quill and a piece of parchment, continuing an old letter.

“For just under three hundred years Oren has stood, both on and off.” he said, pointing his quill towards Felix.

“Humanity has endured a great deal, this is the sixth time the empire may fall.” Alexander put away his quill, rising from his seat and walking over towards the door. The sound of footsteps could be heard along the cranking floorboards, it never bothered him before but now it did..

Felix turned to Alexander, baffled stating “So you believe our cause to be lost? With no hope of victory?”

Alexander stopped in his track, placing his left hand in his trouser pocket whilst opening the door with his right, the cranking sound of the door opening echoes through the room.

“I believe in our cause, truly I do. I do not doubt the courage and bravery of those around me, we will bring steel to our enemies or die in the attempt, and I would gladly give my life to defend what my brother and father, and our ancestors before them have built. Where else would my allegiance lie if not here?” Alexander pondered, as he made his way through the door and into the hallway.
