KeatonUnbeaten 1103 Share Posted February 11, 2017 THE WHITE EAGLE Army of Courland "Strength in discipline." The Stauntonite Coat-of-Arms, the White Eagle, and the military motto. The White Eagle The White Eagle is the reformed military of the Kingdom of Courland, established in the year 1596, in the Kingdom's capital of Aleksandria on the isle of Ceru. The White Eagle has adopted features from the old Courlandic military, the Eagle’s Vigil, in terms of their disciplines, ethics, training styles and leadership. The commander of the White Eagle is the Marshal, who answers directly to the King. The army is expected to follow every order from the Marshal without question or hesitation, and to the fullest vigour and extent - unwavering loyalty being a key attribute of military personnel. The Code “I, (name of oath-swearer), swear myself wholly and honestly to his Royal Majesty, King (liege name) Staunton. My blade is his, my heart is his, my life is his. From this day to the last, I shall forever be known as a Courlander; I am the sword and the shield, I am the worker in the fields, I am the flame in the forge, and I rise a bannerman of House Staunton, an agent of righteousness, a talon of the White Eagle! ‘Ave Staunton!” The Ranking System I: Regiment and Marshal System The Marshal has adopted the idea of regiments, led by the two Regimental Generals of the nation. The two regiments, hereby named the Legion of Westmark and the Curon Guard, are to operate separately, under two different Generals, unless ordered otherwise by the Marshal. From the date of this decree, the Regimental Generals are as follows; The Regimental General of Westmark is currently undecided. The Regimental General of the Curon Guard is currently undecided. These generals shall run their regiments independent of the Marshal, and hereby have the authority to; Rally the soldiers for military action inside Crownlands of the Kingdom. Remove any military personnel within their regiments from active service, as well as initiating any military personnel within their regiments into active service below the rank of Regimental General. Create inter-regiment non-uniform ranks on top of Quartermaster, Medic, Messenger and other existing non-uniform ranks. Award medals, ranks and honours to anyone inside their regiment, excluding knighthood and Class Two and higher medals. Manage, request and store their own equipment and munitions; are subject to concede said stock to the Marshal immediately upon request. Further authority may be inferred, should the action be feasible and reasonable.. Such authorities may be listed here at a later time. The Ranking System II: Hierarchy of Regiments The two aforementioned regiments are to begin small, with few ranks, with the possibility of more being introduced to adapt to the military’s size. Some specialized ranks have been created as well, with the intention of helping create a proper military infrastructure and tradition. Regiment rankings cannot be altered by the Regimental Generals, but changes may be requested by them to the Lord Marshal. The ranking system, established 1596, is as follows; The Marshal Regimental General of the Curon Guard Regimental General of Westmark Regiment Sergeant Regiment Armsmaster Regiment Sergeant Regiment Armsmaster Specialized Ranks of the Regiments Footmen of the Regiments This system aims to be simple, easy to understand and implement, and yet efficient, allowing men of note to rise to the specialized ranks or the Sergeant rank, and become recognized by their Regimental General and even the Marshal. It does not include the rank of Knight, as the ranks of Knight and Squire, etcetera, are handled by the King and his Grand Knight. Knights may, of course, join the White Eagle; however, knights in the White Eagle will be treated as if they were only of the rank given to them by their commander, and not as a knight. Furthermore, other special persons such as noble sons and royal scions will be treated exactly as any other soldier of their rank would; the action of favouritism makes one weak with complacency. The Application Form Not everyone is to be accepted into the military and the guidelines are as follows; Only those who are of human or elven blood may join the White Eagle. Only those who are male may join the White Eagle. Golems are to be treated as weaponry, not soldiers; as such, they are to be deployed, and any golemancer involved in the army is to hold them in reserve and ready for use. All users of magic must note such to the Marshal or their Regimental General. The application form, listed below, must be filled out by all applying soldiers and officers, no matter what. If accepted, one will receive a letter to report to the barracks of Aleksandria; if no letter is received within three saint’s days, see a military officer and inquire further for a proper answer. FORM OF APPLICATION Applicant’s Name: Applicant’s Gender: Applicant’s Race: Applicant’s Age: Applicant’s Skill in Magic: Applicant’s Skill in Certain Fields (medicine, blacksmithing, etcetera.): Applicant’s signing of the Code, and legally binding consent to serving until honourably discharged: ((PM these to ImperialRoyalist on the forums.)) The Military Law The Law of the Military is, essentially, the law of the state, with inclusions and exclusions of certain matters; Soldiers of certain ranks or with certain orders may detain civilians of any nation (including their own), soldiers of any nation (including their own), and nobles of any nation (including their own), within the borders of their nation. Soldiers have a ‘right to arms’; meaning each soldier has a right to own their own equipment, and share their equipment with other soldiers. If one soldier has looted an abundance of arrows, he is expected to share it with fellow soldiers and the military at large by donating it to his commanders or directly to other soldiers. Soldiers, especially appointed officers, have minimal authority and autonomy in battle. Soldier must not act insubordinately. Soldiers must respect the citizenry of the Kingdom and not endanger them unless in dire circumstances. Soldiers must not cause harm to one another. The Current Deployment of the Regiments The regiments are currently deployed in such manners; The Regiment of Westmark is currently deployed to defend Aleksandria. The Regiment of the Curon Guard is currently deployed to defend Aleksandria. The regiments have a number of ways they may deployed; in times of war, they may be deployed in the field, conducting raids and the like against the enemy or spearheading offensives; in times of peace, conducting patrols and performing domestic duties within the lands of Courland and it's allies. There are duties that are interchangeable, such as acting as guardsmen or escorts to important people. Medals of the Military The current medals of the military, and how they are gained and what they symbolize, are; The King’s Best; achieved by those who perform feats of daring-do out of sole patriotism, loyalty and devotion to the King and Courland. A Class Two Medal. The Unwavering; achieved by those who stand firm against great odds. A Class One Medal. The Indomitable; achieved by veterans of the army, who have proven themselves worthy in numerous engagements and actions. A Class One Medal.
