Tranquility (le trio contest)

Rustling came from the forest and its core, greenery swaying tenderly as few lucky leaves escaped from the secured prison granted by clinging branches of grasping claws, exposed to mud with their brief moments of freedom after becoming trampled by invading droplets high above.

"They say the poor migrant elf had hopes to get into Karlsburg from the north - poor cretin."

The rain gave no mercy as it continued to pitter and patter again the glass surface that let us remain safe within the small hut we could barely offered with sacred curreny. As I continued to gaze out I felt an eerie pulling to drag me forth and encase me within it's crazed fury of life. How could such chaos bring tranquility? The death of snapping jaws around necks, merciless from the start that builds on forever trailing like the plenty of streams that flow through the muddied landform never ending, even as it meets its river. The water shall never cease in its movements.

"Zoya, what do you think? Do you think they'll go further into investigation with the suddden death?"

Forever different, yet constant with its beauty. A curse even worse from what was granted by Iblees, changes that may strike suddenly and without a chance to give the smallest ounce of mercy to those who pray for it and hope to obtain. Creatures of sleek coats, tender to the touch - However; forbidden by those of the common eye for none may stroke a single digit through the soft lake of fawn, reds, and browns. Orbs of enigma staring outwards to capture one in its hold to release awe but danger seeping deep within.

"Zoya? Zoya! Stop staring to the moon for there is nothing out there. If you cannot reply to the simple inquiry, then at least finish up your egg. Do you understand?"

     "Yes, mama."

Eggs, snatched by the forest itself and yet she says it lacks of importance? Love for my mother is deep, and yet I still ponder how we might be one. To sit and drag melted wax along a hollow egg to forge a design is agony compared to viewing out the glassy shield that blocks me from my freedom. Such is to not tolerate.

No words are to be earned but the tapping of my flats as a desperate hand flail outwards to grasp hold of a cloak to handle close against a lithe frame racked with poverty. The shrill cries of anger and motherly discipline echoing as if one were running down a hall that allowed each note in a voice ring against the flat and bare surfaces - Even if just few steps away. Flying across the wind, feathers flushing about as air had pushed by hair backwards from my forehead in a messy tornado of pale locks, nothing could cease my soaring for it was feral and untamable. Though, like a fruit it's sweetness comes to a bitter end with its aftertaste.

A crack sounded in my head as pain throbbed through me before I found myself laying upon the ground with mud painted onto the side of my visage, hands entangled into the grass below to endure the sudden feeling with a groan, gaze shifting betwixt the ground and sky before heaving to face the vague and blurred outline of antlers that prodded outwards from the promising ferns. Awe waved over like a blanket tucking youth when time to slumber for the sight was magnificent as the eerie being begun to fall further into the woods. I could not let such a change occur and then be taken!

Thrashing came from my wounded frame in response to my hurried pace, stumbles filled my gait as the air came in swooshing from haste movements. Trailing further than to my desire, pants escaping with buzzing excitement as worn flats aided in a race of despair. Into the woods we went racing with frenzy, ambition, and fear from both. Prayers were heard as the being came halting to a stop.

My surroundings were clear; trees that expand upwards more than a palace, decorated with sweet fruits of bright hues and scents so strong one could catch them miles away with a mere sniff. The faint roaring of water and cries of the many animals who had made their home here. My wonder was disturbed by the creature and its soft rustling before my gaze shifting upwards to spot its antlers inches away to where one could prod at them. Features tugged back so a wide grin spread across my lips, digits expanding outwards to quickly part the greenery to gaze upon a horrific face in return.

Wrinkled skin of carmel with dried lips tugged back to reveal crooked teeth of yellow with few lacking in their spots, hair white and messy. However, what stuck out most was the glowing green eyes and antlers tied to a scalp firmly where it tug into the flesh. A shrill scream escaped my parting lips as soon tendril-like fingers curled around my frame as we had both begun to wrestle for victory of survival. Fists swung and feet kicked as a maw came down to tear a delicate ear from my scalp - Soon my screams turned to cries and the sound of  a pounding heart thudded loudly to an overwhelming volume. I drove my palm to his nose only to give a final gasp of agony for my gaze drifted to the bark once admired with awe, now an enemy taking place in my chest.

"Zoya? Zoya! Stop staring to the moon for there is nothing out there. If you cannot reply to the simple inquiry, then at least finish up your egg. Do you understand? The forest can be a dangerous place - Zoya? You are pale dear, stop looking at that creature outside. It's only antlers, and remember never ever...

       Go into the woods."
