Out-Of-Character Information

Please do your best to correct spelling and grammatical errors, this is an RP server and writing is the main form of communication!

What’s your Minecraft account name?: countessem

What timezone are you in?: Central USA

How old are you?: Over the age of 20. I'm not comfortable putting my real age on the internet.

Are you aware the content and interactions on this server may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13? (You won’t be denied for being under 13): Yes.

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: Yes.

What’s the rule you agree with the most?: No plagiarizing and no metagaming. I also quite like the rule of no powergaming and I like that there are rules for raiding and war. It's nice to see a server that wants it's players to do these things but restricts them from outright wiping others out completely.

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense? (if so we can help clear it up!): Nothing seems confusing, though I will ask if there is anything that does confuse me.

How did you find out about Lord of the Craft?: I was looking up Minecraft servers and found it on one of the voting sites. Since i have a long and deep seated love of LOTR I decided to check it out and have thus falling more in love with it upon noticing many of the names are derived from Tolkien's works (Sillumiran/Silmarillion Laureh'lin/Laurelin with, I hear you!)

Link(s) to past Whitelist Applications (If applicable): None.

Have you logged into the server yet? (You cannot be whitelisted without logging in at least once): Yes. A couple of times to look around and do research about the different places and to decide what I want to make my character.

Definitions

Feel free to Google the answers or browse our forums, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person! Plagiarizing will result in the automatic denial  of your application!

What is roleplaying?: Roleplaying is the act of taking on another persona with the intent to enact scenes with other actors or players who are also playing characters. I've been roleplaying since 2001.

What is metagaming?: Basically, your character knowing something you know without having learned it in the roleplay.

What is power-emoting (powergaming)?: Basically, being over-powered. Your character can't have super strength or super knowledge or be too powerful in any aspect. That balances the game or roleplay in an unfair advantage to your character.

In-Character Information
Now you actually make your character - be creative but stay reasonable! Make sure they make sense and that they follow lore. Try to come up with a character that you actually want to play.

Character’s sex: (male or female?) Male

Character’s race: (you can find all the playable races here.) High Elf

Character’s age: (upon application, your character must be 18 or older, and depending on the race, they can be over five hundred years old!) Around 189 years old.

Biography  (Please make it a decent two paragraphs long. Remember to add three references to the server lore): (where does your character come from?; where have they traveled to?; what year were they born in? et cetera.):

Small information about his family:

Father: Vamir Aramenor (deceased)

Mother: Tarathiel Aramenor (deceased)

Siblings: one older brother, Elpaerae Aramenor (25 year age difference, whereabouts unknown, status unknown)

Born in the year 1454 (assuming that the modern year is 1644) to a family supporting the Silver Enclave of Haelun'or, he was only twenty one years old when it was overthrown. His family went into hiding soon after, moving into the Kingdom of Oren when the city was claimed. There, they attempted to rebuild their lives. When rumors began spreading about the potential to retake their home, Lathlaeril's father joined in. He was not a warmongering man, but wished to return to his place of birth. When the wars began, he went into battle, but never returned, leaving Lathlaeril and his mother alone. Being an only parent, Laethril's mother struggled to raise her sons, and finally opted to move them and their small business back to Siimah'sul. However, with many wars and persecutions the family found themselves tiring of the constant conflicts. While they loved their people and their homeland, Laethril and his mother were determined to stay peaceful and neutral, one of the few families that accepted other races and other sub-races without judgement.

This, in turn, led to Laethril's mother's inn becoming a hub of activity. No one was turned away, and rules of peace and harmony were strictly enforced, leading to any person creating conflict or drama being thrown out onto the street. This became their policy for many years. However, when the great migration to the continent Vailor. With the building of the Citadel, his small family found a new home and a new place to build a life for themselves. His mother regularly rented out rooms in their home and soon had enough money combined with the small amount of money they had leftover from their previous life to buy a place for an inn. Upon settling into their inn, Lathlaeril suggested to his mother that they put in a stables to bring in more money and more patrons that otherwise went elsewhere for lodging. His mother agreed and within two lunar cycles, they had saved enough money to buy a plot of land and build a stables. Lathlaeril went on to manage the stables and take care of the animals, something he found he greatly enjoyed. However, in their time in the Citadel, his mother grew increasingly frustrated with the never-ending political wars and - after suffering a maiming at the hands of the law enforcers under the triumvirate of Laethis Izalith for being late in paying taxes - decided to leave the Citadel. As they made plans and began to enact them, there was a rise of peace which lulled them briefly back into staying longer.

However, they both knew the peace was not likely to last, and so, upon hearing of the new settlement Fi'ceru, decided to move homes. They sold the inn and the stable and moved to Fi'ceru, where they bought new land and rebuilt their lives for the third time. However, at this point, Lathlaeril noticed that his mother was beginning to grow weak. With their home made in Fi'ceru, Lathlaeril took over more duties in the inn and cared for his ailing mother. He consulted with a physician, who told him his mother had developed tuberculosis as a result of moving so frequently and weakening lungs. The prognosis was grim, and his mother weakened further each day until she could no longer climb out of bed. The inn was suffering along with her, with Lathlaeril's attention focused on his mother rather than the business. It was not long after that she passed, and in his grief, Lathlaeril sold the inn and the stables and took a place in the Order of the Golden Owl. As war broke out between the leaders, Lathlaeril found himself more and more disgusted by what had come of his people.

By the time of the Celein-Haelun'or rift, Lathlaeril had decided to leave Fi'ceru. It was there that he and his brother parted ways. Though they still loved one another, they did not see eye to eye on things, and that caused them to argue more often than not. They both agreed that it was time for their time to part. They knew in the future that they would be able to find one another, but agreed time spent away would make them better people. Thus Lathlaeril became a loner, moving away from Fi'ceru and entering into a state of travel. He moved from nation to nation, passing through borders and learning cultures as he went. He forged his own weapons, found his own food and slept under the stars.

At the start of the age of Axios, Lathlaeril found himself in Oren, where he traveled the kingdom making bows and arrows and providing small repair jobs. He never attempted to join armies, and in fact, when conflict broke out, he purposely did not pick a side and simply walked away. He had seen too much conflict in the world to want to continue to take part in conflicts. He earned minimal money, but never used it, instead accruing it into larger sums of money and donating it to families in need. Instead, without money, he uses nature to help him, foraging his own food from animals and plants and never building a permanent home.

However, with the turn of the new era, Atlas, he has found something stirring with him at the reports of all the conflicts from the previous eras. He has not decided where he will settle down, but had decided his time for wandering is over, and it is finally time to take a stand and unite the world in peace and harmony - well, to the best it can be.

Personality Traits: (what are your character's quirks?; habits?; likes and dislikes?) Incredibly shy and introverted, Lathlaeril has trouble being around or speaking to other members of the world. He spends his days alone, wandering in the forests and plains and exploring new cultures. He loves to learn, and will sit and listen to stories told by older beings for hours on end. He is resolute in his opinions, and will stop at nothing once he has decided on a cause worthy of his attention. He is an animal lover, but realizes the balance of nature means not everything can live, and that some must die for the world to continue moving. He dislikes conflict, to the point of avoiding it at all costs. Some would even consider him a coward for it, but he believes that what the world needs is less anger and hostility and more love and peace. He also greatly enjoys music and reading while sipping tea. He knows how to play the harp, and considers it to be his second best talent aside from archery. He believes himself to be grotesque and ugly thanks to the scar splitting his face, and believes that when he is around people, they judge him and are scared of his appearance, thus losing confidence in himself.

Ambitions: (what does your character aspire to be?) Lathlaeril wants to grow to be the best archer in all the continent. He has spent years training, breaking away from his family's norms of magic and inn-keeping. His heart is set on becoming a bowman fit to defend the land and it's people. He believes with all his heart that acceptance of all is something the world needs to learn and take with them through life. He wishes to bring awareness of the prejudices and racism that many people have and to help the world become less hateful of others. He is well aware that this is not normal for High Elves, but he believes that if it doesn't start with them, then it may never occur at all. He was taught at a young age that love conquers more than hate, and that hate should be pushed from one's mind as far as possible. He also realizes that to achieve this, he'll have to learn to be more extroverted and less introverted, how to overcome his shyness and speak to people.

Strengths/Talents: (what is your character really, really good at?) Lathlaeril is a skilled archer, though he is not the best in the world. He aspires to be, and diligently works to better himself each day. He is also a skilled harp player, able to pluck the strings much like he plucks the string of his bow. He also makes a mean cup of tea and can recommend a lovely book on adventure or prose, whichever one prefers. He is intelligent, having learned cultures and attempts to learn something new each day.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: (what is a skill that your character needs to work on?) He is incredibly bad at swordfighting, often swinging wildly and missing. He has never been good at close combat, and prefers taking a position away from the attack where he can use his bow and arrows and ensure the defense of his own brethren. He also dislikes seeing people hurt, and if he could, he would ensure that no one got hurt. Some people see this as a weakness or a cowardice, but he sees it as a strength, one that will help him in his fight for peace. Lathlaeril is not truly a combat-style person despite knowing how to use a bow and arrows. He is more intellectually involved and would rather try to talk things out before resorting to violence. He is extremely introverted and shy, and this can lead to miscommunication problems.

Appearance: (what does your character look like?; how tall are they?; hair color?; scars?) Standing at 5'10", Lathlaeril is a sight to behold with silver-white hair and deep violet eyes. His hair has very rarely been cut, and reaches down to his knees (making it a combat hazard, another reason he dislikes close-combat). He has a scar across the left side of his face stretching from his jaw up over his eye and eyebrow to his hairline from a mishap that happened while he was briefly a part of the Order of the Golden Owl - while sparring, another elf accidentally struck him across the face, injuring him and scarring his face. His skin is incredibly pale, but the scar is a dark pink and puckered, pulling his face slightly to the left and causing his smile to be slightly lopsided. He was lucky that his vision was not affected in the mishap, but remains ashamed of his "grotesque" appearance. It does not help his confidence, because he believes that when people see him, they are scared off by his scar.

Skin: (please provide us a screenshot of your character’s skin; if you need help, see our screenshot guide here.) I don't actually have a skin for him yet, I'm hoping to have one made when I get some money in-game. The current skin I'm using is this one based off of Thranduil from The Hobbit. If I need to use a skin from the skin archive here, please let me know and I'll change to that one.

Bonus: A song that I consider very describing of Lathlaeril is "Bully" by Shinedown, and also "I'm Not Laughing" by Lacey Sturm, as well as "Coming Down" by Five Finger Death Punch.
