~*~ Flowing through all things, there is Balance ~*~

ay'salum Brother Koi,

Your recent writings certainly make for an interesting read. I am woe to point out however, that several things appear to have escaped your attention if only through the deepness of your thought. For you are correct that Drui must not fear extremes, nor violence and that there is both much joy and energy to be found in passion. I fear however that your concentration upon passion alone has led you to a misguided conclusion.

For us to guard the Balance, we must first understand it. That there is passion in nature yes, but also peace. After the thunderstorm comes the quiet and stillness, rejuvenation after destruction. After the passion of the hunt, there is the peace and reverence. When the quarry escapes the hunter, it retreats and knows peace again. This peace soon gives way to passion once more. There is chaos, the fight for survival is a tangled web of predators and prey, but there is order in nature also. We need not look far to see the way in which ants or bees organise themselves, the wolf and its pack, the meerkat who rear their young collectively. Chaos and hunger are not constants, we can see this in the lion or the wolf who does no harm to the deer or gazelle when its hunger is sated. Order is born from chaos, and will be consumed by it, only to rise again.

Least of all, would I dissuade you from the power of your emotions. Among my Seed, we know of the torture suppressing one's emotions inflicts upon the Spirit, but that discipline is also necessary. Our Gifts respond well to the invocation of our emotions, but without the serenity and calm afforded to us by meditation, we could not develop our Gifts at all. We Drui are all wardens of the Balance, and we must therefore understand the Balance within ourselves also.

 There is passion, yet peace
     There is serenity, yet emotion
 There is chaos, yet order

You are quite right, that to fall to stagnation is to surrender to the comforts of a city, where nature struggles to dwell. That to protect without teaching one to protect themselves is irresponsible, is to teach that there will always be help when this is not always possible. We must also remember however, that there is a diversity of strength. That your strength is my strength, and my wisdom is your wisdom. Cooperation is natural also and to forsake it for individualism alone is short-sighted. We are to serve, that is the purpose of our Gifts and Attunement, and to pursue victory without the guidance afforded us by peace and serenity is to forsake the peace that the Aspects grant us also.

To listen only to the absolute primal. When there is no absolute in nature.

Flowing through all, there is Balance
There is no peace without a passion to create
There is no passion without peace to guide
Knowledge stagnates without the strength to act
Power blinds without the serenity to see
    There is freedom in life
    There is purpose in death
Nature is all things and we are Nature

I would not have you walk from the path you have made for yourself, but I would have you meditate upon it. To open your mind to the passion and the peace, the serenity and the emotion, chaos and order.
