Writ of Legitimation

 

 

To the Prince of Ves, Ide Haraccus.

 

My name is Edgar Sarkozic, and though you have not met me before, I have heard of your exploits. I was once the Chancellor of Adria, and brother to the late Duke John the Good, the builder of your great city. We share a love of the quill, and for this I look forward to our contact in the future, for birds of a feather do best to flock together. However, this letter does not bear only the burden of introduction, but instead is to address a much more significant topic. As brother to John, I was uncle to Josip the Mad, the last Sarkozic Duke of Adria. Josip sired many bastards, if these new sources were to be believed credible, and his spawn now walks Arcas in all cities of man. That being said, I, the oldest of House Sarkozic and the last of the legitimate line, have come into contact with one Heinrik and Petyr Orel, Orel being the name given to Sarkozic bastards. Heinrik prefers Henry, and I have requested that he find lodging in Ves soon. He is humble, earnest and true, and bears a striking resemblance to his father. I believe him to be a true son of Josip, and, with my own children long buried beneath the ground, see him as the future of our house.

 

Let it be known, that I, Edgar Sarkozic, legitimise Heinrik and Petyr Orel as Henry and Peter Sarkozic, and Henry, I name to be my heir to the position of Patriarch of House Sarkozic upon my death. There are not, to my knowledge, any other legitimate Sarkozics in existence. The legitimacy of other bastards, pretenders or not, is now at my, and soon to be my heir’s discretion. I am soon to leave this world, as my age takes my vitality by the day. May God deliver my house once more to prosperity, and may he deliver the sons of Josip strength.
