SOLDIER EMPLOYMENT

 


 

 


The Crimson Guard are the household guards of the House of Suffolk tasked with protecting their person and estates, namely; Suffonia. As the elite and fulltime (as opposed to wartime citizen levies and vassal levies) branch of the Suffonian Retinue, members of the Crimson Guard are bestowed a higher social standing than of regular citizens and their service is duly compensated and rejoiced.

 

Suffonia takes pride in the high salaries and social and economic rights she bestows on her belowed Crimson Guard. Upon enlisting, members of the Crimson Guard are provided with housing, food and equipment and following their Oath ceremony they become eligble for the full perks of their status including but not limited to; salary, 50 mina rally attendance bonus, retirement and disability pension, dental care.


 

RECRUIT - More commonly known as Hawks (a play on the Eagle of Suffolk) among the guards, Recruits are potential guards in process of training. If deemed worthy by the Master of Arms, recruits are allowed to take the Oath and become Crimson Guard.

 

PIKEMAN - Recruits who are deemed worthy to be accepted to the Crimson Guard but requires more experience and training are first granted the Pikeman rank. 

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Recruits, Pikemen are granted 150 mina salary.

 

MAN-AT-ARMS - Footman who proves their loyalty and talent are promoted as Man-at-Arms.

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Footmen, Men-at-Arms are granted shared chambers and 225 mina salary.

 

CORPORAL  Corporal is the highest non-officer rank of the Crimson Guard. They are the most senior and talented warriors and officers are selected amongst them.

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Men-at-Arms, Corporals are granted private chambers and 275 mina salary.

 


 

[ OFFICERS ]

 

SERGEANT  –  Sergeants are tasked with assisting their superior officers to keep the Crimson Guard efficient and finding new recruits.

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Corporals, Sergeants are granted upper floor private chambers and 350 mina salary.

 SENIOR SERGEANTS

Under the Lieutenant, there are three senior sergeants who undertakes special assignments, namely:

 

1- Quartermaster; Responsible for the equipment check, welfare, chamber assignment and feeding of guards.

2- Master of Arms; Responsible for the training of guards and ensuring they are battle ready with constant drills and war games.

3- Master of the Horses : Responsible of the horses and the mounted soldiers

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Sergeants, Senior Sergeants are granted private suites and 350 mina salary.

 

LIUETENANT Lieutenant Is the second in command of the Captain. Lieutenant would assume command in the absence of the Captain and traditionally would lead cavalry while the Captain would lead the infantry. Lieutenant is also responsible for the administration of Edwardfort Barracks.

Perks: In addition to being granted the perks given to Sergeants, Lieutenant is also granted the Lieutenant Chamber and 500 mina salary.

 

CAPTAIN  Captain is the commanding officer of Crimson Guard. While accountable to the Privy Council and Captain General, Captain of the Crimson Guard can only be appointed or removed by the ArchDuke of Suffonia. Captain’s prime duty is ensuring protection of the House of Suffolk but he is also responsible for the safety and maintenance of  peace in estates under Suffolk rule.

 



[SENIOR COMMAND]

 

Captain General – Captain General is the head of the Suffonian armed forces and a councillor of the Council of Warwick. Captains of all military forces of Suffonia answers to the Captain General. Captain General is tasked with the defence of Suffonia and coordination and management of all armed forces. If a Marshal is not appointed for during wartime, Captain General will assume control of the war. 

 

Constable – Constable is a Minister of the Privy Council, in charge of law enforcement. Constable is the head of the Constabulary, commissioned with the prosecution of criminal offences and filing of criminal complaints before Suffonian Courts. Constable is responsible for the execution of Suffonian Law and Suffonian Court verdicts and also is the Warden of the Suffonian Mandatory Guest Centres.
 

Marshal –  Marshal is the commander of the The Suffonian Retinue and is appointed by the ArchDuke for a specific war or military campaign. As only nobility can be appointed for the task, traditionally the rank is called the Lord Marshal. Lord Marshal has full authority on any matter related to war, second only to the ArchDuke and can bypass any rights or confiscate any property and enlist any citizen by force to the army for the period of the war. Lord Marshal may not be legally challenged under the Suffonian Law for his actions as long as he holds his position. Lord Marshal can also form a War Council for the coordination of the armed forces.

--- Crimson Oath Ceremony ---

 

Recruits who passes the exams held by the Master of Arms and deemed worthy of service will be allowed to take the Crimson Oath and become a member of the Crimson Guard. 

 

Oath Ceremony When a new Recruit is deemed worthy by the Master of Arms to become a Crimson Guard, Crimson Oath Ceremony will be held on the first day and time Lord of Suffolk wills. After reciting the Oath before the Lord of Suffolk, if accepted by the Lord, the Recruit will become a Crimson Guard. The Ceremony Form All Crimson Guard would line up at the Edwardfort Barracks Keep’s courtyard before the most senior officer and the Master of Arms, facing the Lord’s lodge. When the Lord arrives, the Master of Arms (if not present his role would be carried out by the most senior officer present) would say the following line:

“Brothers of the Crimson Guard, behold the Lord of Suffolk!” All guards would salute the Lord and following this the Lord would start the ceremony: “Let the Oath Ceremony begin” the Master or Arms would then continue: “Recruit (name), thou know the sacred Oath of the Crimson Guard, thou were taught to remember it by heart,

 

On this day, and all the days and nights to follow,

I am bound to the service of the Lord of House Suffolk,

I shall know no master but him, 

I shall know no family but my brothers in crimson, 

I shall know no wealth but my loyalty,

My sword shall be his talons, my legs shall be his wings

My blood shall paint the Red Eagle,

On this day, and all the days and nights to follow.

 


--- Suffolk Military Awards and Decorations ---

 

Awarding military actions is a part of the Suffonian culture. Soldiers who are awarded will be deemed Veterans and achieve a place of high honour. Suffonian Medals can be worn over civilian clothing or cloth uniforms, but they cannot be worn over armour.


Edwardcross: Awarded for outstanding service to the ArchDuchy. Highest obtainable honour and endows one the privileges of the Gentry in Suffonia.

Eaglecross: Second highest obtainable honour. Awarded for saving the life of a member of House Suffolk or saving a great number of Suffonian lives.

Red Eagle: Awarded for grand military accomplishments.

Red Cross: Awarded for the service against the unnatural.

 

Red Valor: Awarded for showing great courage on battlefield.

 

Red Talon: Awarded for outstanding execution of military service.
