IS THIS CREATURE TAMEABLE? IF SO, HOW?:

An Arcane Wyrm is not able to be domesticated, due to their primal instincts and lack thereof any rational intelligence, but can be deceived to follow a person that feeds it mana— To do this, one must conjure any evocation that utilizes a connection to the Voidal realm, so that the creature becomes entranced in the user’s mana. Arcane Wyrms can become hostile in these instances, becoming addicted to the supply they recieve, constituting in one of the few times that these serene creatures will show signs of aggression towards any descendant.

SUMMARY OF THE CREATURE:

The Voidal realm is a timeless, undeniable emptiness catering to a repertoire of hostile, uncharted creatures. Arcane Wyrms are unlike other beings of the Void, presenting themselves as docile creations of the infinite abyss within our realms. These small critters have appeared in few alterations of their luminescent, hard-shelled forms— Arcane Wyrms are often described as slithering critters that glide elegantly, few inches above ground. All Arcane Wyrms have been documented to be composed entirely of pure mana, their figures almost translucent if inspected closely.

 

 

 

THE DISCOVERY

 

Written upon the timeworn pages of a leather-cased notebook, a multitude of sporadic thoughts deposited onto the various edges and what-empty spaces remained. The largest chunk of writing was hurried and chaotic, signed below by Adeline Cuth’arlin. “I must admit— THIS is the last outcome I expected from our experiments. What cannot be described as more than a discovery with another. From our attempt to manipulate the art of the Arcane to the highest degree, we have seemingly created an opening— Ne, an invitation for creatures of the Voidal plane to enter our realm… These beings show no intent to harm either of us, mali’thill of pure blood. One female and one male. THEY, the creatures that sought to escape the abyss roam around freely, almost unaware of our presence.

 

This is a monumental moment for the progression of our kin, mali’thill. But, I shall see to our protection first and foremost and continue to investigate these wondrous beings— Arcane Vermins… I shall return with a better name in the next entry— #47, 3rd of Snow’s Maiden, 1751”

 

 

 

 

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CREATURE:

Arcane Wyrms are creatures of the Void regardless of their current habitat, and tend to remain underground for the majority of their lifetime, unless in captivity. A Wyrm will seek out the strongest sources of substantial mana and henceforth, these creatures have manifested refuge inside the depths of Haelun’or— Arcane Wyrm(s) will often be seen roaming the City of Silver during nightfall whenever eager to feed. The voidal beings will not attack any descendant unless aggravated, and retreat to safety once the sun rises.

 

As mentioned previously, Arcane Wyrms are luminescent, hard-shelled serpent-like creatures often ranging from 10 to 15 inches in length and adorning an array of gradients once consuming of a user’s mana. Wyrms have a lifespan that lasts roughly 2 years (2 weeks OOC) and will attempt to reproduce before their evident passing— They are genderless, ageless creatures and reproduction occurs when one splits in an act of necrosis, providing 2-3 weaker versions of itself, anew returning to their near-invisible state.

 

An Arcane Wyrm depends solely on its source of mana, and as with all that is conjured from the Voidal realm, it will return once it cannot feed anymore. Upon the passing of an Arcane Wyrm, a user able to connect with the Void is able to drain the mana remaining in its body and collect it. The few remnants can be stored and solidified over a period of time.

 

The mana produced and collected from the Arcane Wyrms does not hold yet, any positive effects to a Mage or otherwise. After various experiments, it has been concluded that the solidified mana may be broken into crystals and will aid in the consumption of other offspring. What will come from this mana is a mystery to discover yet, though Mali’thill assume that the Citadel will once again witness the possibility of mana obelisks, rivers and flora surrounding the City of Silver due to this. 

 

ARCANE WYRM REPRODUCTION

An Arcane Wyrm will attempt to produce offspring when nearing the end of its life, presenting itself in an agitated state for up to 3 days before the creature finally settles within the darkest spot it can reside comfortably within. The Voidal being cannot reproduce with another and pairing two of these in solitary confinement will prove to no avail.

 

[ An Arcane Wyrm may begin to attempt reproduction exactly one (1) week OOCLY after its own birth or conjuration. A Wyrm will ONLY produce 1-3 offspring and this may be measured by the one who is in charge of the Wyrms in possession. Please check the REDLINES for more info. ]

 

 

HOW TO CARE FOR AN ARCANE WYRM

ARTIFICIAL CONFINEMENT

 

Arcane Wyrms often share similar properties to other animals of the descendant realm, contrasting only in their short lifespan and inability to comprehend any basic command. One must keep the Arcane Wyrm(s) in an environment with little to no artificial lighting, and abundant clearance as to prevent hostile behaviour between the species and/or the caretakers.

 

At the beginning stages of Wyrm conservation and reproduction, one must feed Mana directly to the Arcane beings from a voidal evocation or any item that holds arcane energy. These actions hold the risk of addiction and faux-dependence on the user that provides/feeds the Arcane Wyrms.

 

 

 

ORIGINS OF THE CREATURE:

Arcane Wyrms originally found an entrance to the realm of Arcas via an unwarranted or purposeful opening between the opposing dimensions, leading the various creatures on a search for mana to then consume. At first, Arcane Wyrms are almost entirely invisible to the naked eye, due to the nature of their composition— Once the Arcane Wyrm has found and consumed from a source of mana, its being will ultimately adorn the colour of the aura it has been feeding on.

 

The first documented appearance of an Arcane Wyrm was in 1751, within the Bastion of Knowledge of Haelun’or— A failed experiment leading to the discovery of a few unwarranted visitors erupting through the fragmented opening between the descendant realm and the Void. These odd creatures showed no apparent issue with the Mali’aheral and continued forth their endeavours as normal, merely floating around the dim scenery. Adeline and Aerendyl contained the voidal beings inside the marbled laboratory they conducted the very experiments that had brought forth the Arcane Wyrms, returning exactly one year later to find they had reproduced, or so they thought. The original varmint, now crimson in its gradient, had split in an odd presentation of necrosis to reveal a duo of much smaller Wyrms beside it. This pattern continues to repeat itself, and the mages have found no solution to their ultimate demise.

ORIGINS OF THE CREATURE: STRENGHTS AND WEAKNESSES:

Arcane Wyrms hold little strengths in comparison to their many weaknesses— holding but one delicate attack in an attempt of self-defense. THE BITE. If a Wyrm has become hostile towards a descendant or otherwise, they will snap eagerly at their figure but can oftentimes be scared away with a harsher shout or chant. Arcane Wyrms are able to harm with this fragile display of anger, though it will not affect all beings equally. Any descendant that practices magic requiring a voidal connection will see naught but a scratch upon their skin, whilst others may feel the taint of the Voidal abyss within their immune systems for a few days (akin to a common cold or headache). 

 

The Arcane Wyrm is an agile creature, with its only strength lying in the fact that it can ONLY be killed with the use of magic or magical items. Any other weapon used against it will simply pass through the creature’s figure in an act of self-defense, dissipating it momentarily. The creature will eventually return to its original form, though in a weaker state.

 

The weaknesses of Arcane Wyrms prevail within their lack of rational intelligence and ability to adapt to differing environments, focusing primarily on their primal instincts of survival and reproduction— being that these also include feeding, fight and/or flight. These creatures likely have a lot on their mind already and tend to be the prey, not predator.

 

 

 

RED LINES:

  • Arcane Wyrms have a lifespan of 2 weeks OOCLY, and will return to the void after this time. You must aid the reproduction of these in order to keep them in your roleplay.

 

  • You must screenshot and /date when you attempt to reproduce an Arcane Wyrm, should you need to provide evidence.

    • You can ONLY attempt reproduction 1 week OOCLY after the birth of the first Arcane Wyrm. To reproduce a Wyrm, one must /roll 20 up to three (3) times and whichever roll lands above 15, will convert to how many offspring will come from that reproduction process, being that the original passes during the act.

 

  • The mana that is drained from the passing Wyrm does not have properties that can boost the power of a mage’s spells and is used solely for aesthetic purposes OOCLY (currently) and to feed the remaining Wyrms ICLY.

    • To drain a Wyrm, one must /roll 20 up to three (3) times and whichever number it outputs, will convert to the amount of liquid mana one is able to extract in milliliters. 

 

  • The mana extracted from the Wyrm will solidify within 7 days OOCLY and can ONLY be returned to its liquid state by an Arcanism user able to confidently manipulate their own voidal energy.

 

  • Arcane Wyrms cannot pass through walls, and cannot spy on other players for you. They cannot understand any language or command. They cannot be domesticated and will not attack any descendant at the order of another player.
