An Act to restrict the building of fortifications by private citizens in the Empire.

 

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this act is to codify and criminalize the construction of Battlements by Private citizens of the Empire.

 

 

SECTION I:

The Establishment of a Crown Monopoly on Fortifications.

 

  1.  No Private entity, whether personal or corporate may construct battlements, fortifications, or otherwise ‘defensible’ structures on their land and buildings.
  2. It is the complete purview of the Crown and its Government to oversee the construction, maintenance, and if necessary, deconstruction or mothballing of fortifications within the Empire.
    1. It is the complete purview of the Crown and it’s Subsidiary Governments - Haense, Curon, Kaedrin and Renatus - to construct, officiate, maintain, and deconstruct or mothball these fortifications.

 

SECTION II:

The definitions of Battlements and Fortifications.

 

  1. Watch Towers.
  2. Palisades.
  3. Earthworks.
  4. Moats.
  5. Ditches.
  6. Battlements (Crenellations and parapets.)
  7. Canted Steps. (Stumble Steps.)
  8. Gates (Reinforced Doors and Portcullis.)
  9. Slit windows.
  10. Bocage slopes.
  11. Slope walls.

 

 

SECTION III:

Extralegal provisions for Private fortifications.

 

  1.  Private individuals of Noble or Gentry status may send a written petition to His Majesty’s Government to seek special dispensation for the construction of fortifications should the situation require it and pay a lump sum for the right.
  2. Any Private holder of a fortified land or building must renew the hitherto mentioned dispensation every decade and maintain a physical contract on the premises.
