SERENE SIREN

Composed by William Haulston, City of Helena

At a beatific beach,

Sat a lonesome lad,

Met a wicked witch,

In a sentiment sad,

She spoke troubles,

Of trifling tribulations,

He replied with a tremble,

Of righteous temptations,

Here chirrups of birds in glee,

There the sullen sunless sky,

Those of the treasures the eyes can see,

These but a bard’s burden that be,

On what was spoken,

In her something awoken,

Regales and relishes with the revelation,

Such triumph of a poeticule persuasion,

His words are wonders of wits,

Her ears hear in mere earnestness,

And that of her thirst and itch,

Sent her to transcendent blissfulness,

Henceforth the story continues,

A poet's struggles such that it confuses,

The readers' in their petty predicaments,

Seeking a life of fulfilment,

Thus the narrative reiterated,

From a stranger to another,

Retelling with enthusiasm unabated,

In variegated versions further forever,
