[!] A Heavy Book made of stone and copper lies infront of you. The title reads; The Different Folk of Hefrumm. When you open the book the text is made up of runes carved into copper sheets. To one who would be able to read the dwarven common runes it would read as follows:

The Branches of the Forest Folk:
The Forest dwarves are known to be the least reclusive subrace of the dwarves. This was due to their past exile in the post-bloodage era. Such times forced the Forest Dwarves to spread everywhere they could trying to find a home, be it with other races, with other dwarven subraces, or alone. Because of this phenomena forest dwarves grew to possess many different traits depending on their geographical area of origin, and that in turn created different branches of forest folk. This is a list of the known and spotted branches of the Hefrumm up to the time of Arcas.

Forest Dwarves of the Plains and Valleys
The most common type of forest dwarf. The most common type of forest dwarf comes from the plains and valleys. The main features of a typical forest dwarf include a tall stature and stock build. They tend to have blonde, ginger, or brown hair and a variety of green, blue, or brown eyes. Their complexion generally is olive in tone, however, there are exceptions. Dwarves from the plaines are the most numerous type of forest dwarf as of the time of Atlas and Arcas. The Clan of the Cottonwoods tend to have most of its members belonging to this branch as well as having the most dwarves of the planes compared to any other clan.

Forest Dwarves of the Swamps
Hefrumm of the swamps have a tendency to be hairier than their brothers. They are prone to smell strangely due to their living situation and the plants and animals they coexist with. These dwarves are also more prone to  hallucinations due to their higher risk of being poisoned by an animal or plant. This branch of the forest dwarves is one of the smallest; only a handful of them have been noted as living in Hefrumm since Atlas.

Forest Dwarves of the Desert -Oasis Dwarves-
One of the more elusive branches of the Hefrumm; the dwarves of the desert have never been noted as living side by side with their brothers. Because of this, it is hard to know whether their absence is voluntary or they have gone extinct after the blood age; a time that saw the forest dwarf captivity at the hands of the Ironborn. The desert dwarves complexion is richer and deeper in hues than the dwarves of Hefrumm. They are also the ones that show a more similar depiction of greed to their stone cousins, as they tend to become traders. Rumors say that many that dessert Hefrumm are polygamous and have a wife in every city they trade in, a rumor that could have been made to make them look bad or the truth, we do not know. Along with the Coastal Hefrumm, the Dessert Hefrumm are the rarest.

Forest Dwarves of the Hills
The Hefrumm of the hills are the breed of dwarves that eventually became the Halflings. These dwarves tend to be shortest out of all the dwarves, despite the fact that most forest dwarves are taller than the average dwarf. Their hair color and skin tone varies on each individual without any set specific color or skin tone. Hill Forest Folk are known to be great riders, farmers, and animal herders. An uncommon branch, but one that has been seen from time to time.

Forest Dwarves of the Coast
The Hefrumm of the coast were one of the main forest dwarf branches during the blood age. Their people were known as fishermen and sailors. A typical Forest dwarf of the coast is tanned and despite having individuals with multiple hair colors their hair tends to become lighter or even bleached because of long exposure to the sun and sea water. Ever since the Blood Age very few coastal forest dwarves have been spotted. In the coast the Hefrumm tend to have darker eye colors like brown and black. These are extremely rare as of Arcas, However, the Hefrumm never give up in finding their brothers and sisters.

Forest Dwarves of the Deep Forest
Hefrumm that originate from the deep forest have appearances that reflect their environment. They tend to have darker hair colors which include shades of brunette, black, and rarely dark ginger. Despite being able to get tanned their skin is usually lighter than most forest dwarves as they spend less time under the sun. They tend to have green, grey, and blue eyes. These dwarves are one of the most frequent to spot. Clan Blackroot is the clan that is noted as having the highest population of Deep Forest Dwarves.

Forest Dwarves of the Mountains
Unlike other branches of the Hefrumm the Forest dwarves of the mountains tend to originate from either a family with parents of Mountain and Forest dwarf origin, but also come from groups of Hefrumm that live close to lands of the Mountain Dwarves. Outsiders to the forest dwarves like other dwarven subraces and other descendants tend to consider these dwarves as not real Hefrumm. However, because of the Hefrumm’s open attitude and tolerance they are seen as equal to any other dwarf.

Forest Dwarves of the Tropics
The Hefrumm from the tropics are considered an urban legend. Those that claim to have seen one say that they have a deeply tanned complexion, and that their physical features are often in darker hues of brown. Not much is known of them, but they are recounted in some elders' tales.

Blessed Forest Dwarves -Bryophite Dwarves-
Among the Forest dwarves there are those that by what is believed in their culture are blessed by the goddess of nature. These dwarves through what we believe is a holy bond have merged with part of the realm of Anbella gaining her favor and signing of their soul to her for when they die. These Forest Dwarves are able to give birth to an offspring with help of their dead body and Fae Tree. It has been noted in some sources that the offspring of Blessed Forest Dwarves are able to remember thought, memories, and ideas that their parents had. These dwarves have been noted to not belong to any one clan, but members of this branch have been seen in clan Treebeard, Cottonwood, and Blackroot.

Author’s Note: This book was created to help new forest dwarves to find the group they belong to. It was created in the ERA of Arcas in the village of Hefrumm.
