2. If you are in college or university, counseling services are included in your tuition. You can check in at your student health center for more information. Example: UC Irvine Counseling Center.

Suicidal Thoughts / Thoughts of Self-Harm

If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, Wikipedia has a list of suicide crisis lines and emergency numbers here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_suicide_crisis_lines

Here are some common ones:

Australia: https://www.lifeline.org.au/

Canada: https://www.crisisservicescanada.ca/en/

France: https://suicideecoute.pads.fr/accueil

Germany: https://www.telefonseelsorge.de/

Mexico: https://www.saptel.org.mx/index.html

UK: https://www.samaritans.org/

USA: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/

If you don't want to call a phone number, the National Suicide Prevention lifeline has a Lifeline Chat where you can communicate over text. (North America only.) https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/chat/ However, there is a wait time to connect - so please call the number if you need help immediately.  The Crisis Text Line - a 24/7 North American nationwide crisis-intervention text message hotline - can be reached by texting 741-741.

Many other countries also have text hotlines or chat services, so please check their websites.

1. https://www.selfinjury.bctr.cornell.edu/perch/resources/distraction-techniques-pm-2.pdf - This is a guide to distraction techniques that might help you cope with the urge to self-harm.

2. https://www.uclahealth.org/marc/mindful-meditations - This is a list of free guided meditations that you can download to help you calm down and distract yourself from intrusive, negative thoughts.

3. https://www.healthline.com/health/grounding-techniques - This is a list of "grounding" techniques that can help you manage anxiety and distract from harmful thoughts.

I hope these are useful!

Please remember that you are loved and that you deserve help!
