The sea, for all it has to offer, seldom does the individual take what she offers them. For the Sea is more than just a body of water, no she is more complex and mysterious than that. There are endless treasures waiting to be found, endless adventures waiting to be had, and endless legends waiting to be forged. The sea is the breadbasket from which all of these sprawl from. Her beauty, her mysteriousness, her freedom, it draws a many from the farthest reaches of the world. Let it be known she has no owner, she answers to no one. The shackles of Man, Dwarf, Elf, and Orc cannot hope to control her. Let it be reiterated, the sea has no master, and all who sail, sail with her permission.

 

Ever since he was a boy, Captain Leo dreamt of sailing. His tutors would mark his lack of attention during his lessons and how often his notebooks would be filled with drawings of boats and the sea. It was apparent the life of a nobleman and bureaucrat, the life his mother had wanted for him, did not suit Leo. Since Leo did not desire his mother’s life, it was thought he’d join the Imperial State Navy, as per the wishes of his father, but nay, Leo did not desire this either. In all his dreams and illustrations, Leo did not want to answer to anyone but his crew. Above all, he desired to sail free, having no one to report to. It was decided then, when Leo grew of age, he would form his own crew and sail carefree. It was then that the Freeport Privateers were born.

Who are the Freeport Privateers?

 

The Freeport Privateers are men and women from all around the world, of various races and backgrounds, who have decided to embark and embrace the life the Sea has to offer. Each member shares the same desire for adventure and freedom that their captain has. The crew is thought to be more of a family, where each member trusts the next, not as if they were family, but as they are family, so they must trust each other. The composition of the crew is largely human and elven, but that does not mean orcs, dwarves and other races are hated, for the crew accepts all as long as they defend the ship, the cove, and the crew with their life.

 

As mentioned earlier, the Freeport Privateers sail primarily for adventure. The crew is made of dreamers, many who seek what others would label as insane or even worse, foolish. These chains of doubt are cast aside upon joining the crew, no dream is too big or too foolish. It is encouraged to achieve what is unachievable. As a result, the Freeport Privateers sail for the sake of sailing and to claim what the Sea has to offer. If no one else will claim Her gifts, then they shall.

Ranks

Captain:

The overall leader of the Freeport Privateers. His/her word holds a heavy weight over the crew, and decisions can be decided with their consent alone. He/she is the owner of the ship they sail on. The captain, while they hold the final say, will often leave decisions up to a group consensus, only really deciding things by himself if needed.

Vice-Captain:

The second-in-command, he/she is the Captain’s right hand and their most trusted sailor. If the captain for any reason is not available, then the Vice-Captain is the acting Captain until the actual Captain can resume their duties. He/she is an experienced sailor who advises the Captain on the course of action to take in most, if not all decisions.

 Navigator:

 The navigator is in charge of navigation to put it simply. They are tasked with making maps and guiding the ship to its destination. Without the navigator, the ship is surely to get lost on its voyage. The navigator often has a good memory and feel for the sea, being able to tell when storms are coming and when there are favorable conditions to sail.

 Cook(s)

It is important for the crew to eat during long voyages, the cook is in charge of preparing meals and making sure the ship does not run out of rations.

Shipwright

The shipwright is in charge of making sure the ship is ready to sail. He/she is to maintain the weapons and run routine checks to make sure everything is up to par. They are very knowledgeable about the structure of ships and the best materials.

  Ship Doctor

 The ship doctor is tasked with keeping everyone within good health. They are tasked with making sure the ship’s stock of medicine is full and advise people on general health.

Joining the Freeport Privateers (OOC)

 

 There are two ways of joining the Freeport Privateers, the first is to seek out any member in rp either while they are out exploring or resting back in Freeport. The member will then bring the potential crewman to either the Vice-Captain or Captain for further judgement. If either of those two approve, then the newcomer is welcomed aboard the ship. You can also send either a Discord pm or in-game message as well. The final way is by filling out the form below, then the Vice-Captain or Captain will reach out to you in pms.
