EDICT OF REVALUATION

11th of Harren’s Folly, 1811

 

An edict revaluing the imperial mark to reflect deflation since the evacuation of Arcas.

 

To Our Beloved Subjects,

 

A decade and a half have passed since Our evacuation of the continent of Arcas in 1796. In this time We have re-established Our Empire in this continent, Almaris, and achieved a return to normalcy. However, vast wealth was lost both to the infernal hordes and the haste of retreat, and a new economic order has taken hold. The values of all currencies, including Our own, have deflated. Because this is so, and because Our Empire is one of law, We are called to ensure harmony between Our legal system and the existing order. It therefore becomes Us to revalue those sums prescribed by the government prior to the evacuation of Arcas.

ARTICLE I. ON REVALUATION

 

That any monetary amount prescribed by law, edict, or other act of the government prior to the 1796 evacuation of Arcas be revalued to five percent of its original sum.

 

That this Article shall apply to all government salaries, criminal fines, or other civil remunerations made for acts occurring prior to the evacuation, including back-pay.

 

ARTICLE II. ON LAW

 

That any future recodification of the Oren Revised Code shall amend those monetary values legally prescribed before the evacuation to reflect the revaluation proclaimed herein.
