The waves caressed the pinkish sands of the beach before retreating back into the massive blanket of blue. A wry looking duo dressed in grey and black rags paired with worn down leather, stood side by side; looking out at the setting sun. The deeper skinned male, decently taller than his female counterpart, looked to his side to glance upon the raven haired woman. A smile slowly danced across his visage, but he didn’t speak. She turned her face and her eyes met with his, and her right brow perked upward. Perplexed by his silence she chose to speak instead. “Don’t patronize me, Versace! You’re going to dread the day you look to a setting sun, but without my company.”

The Elven man rolled his eyes before placing a gloved hand on the intersection of his blade’s hilt and his belt’s loop. He’d then avert his gaze slightly upright to admire the melting gradient of color spread across the sky above them. A few more moments passed, and the only sounds were the gulls and the salty breeze. “What if there were really a time, Eileen, when we were no longer together? When, just like everyone else we’ve know, you or I are gone too?” The man asked, the corners of his mouth must’ve grown heavy because they began to weigh down his once cheery demeanor.

“I’m sure we’d certainly be gone, together.” The witch scoffed, lightly slapping her open palm against his upper arm. She’d blink a few times before her furrowed brows and concerned eyes fixed themselves onto his face. Before she could, he spoke; “But, what if it wasn’t that way? What if you were here, and I was not? Or, if I were here and you were… somewhere else?” Her pale lips parted, but struggled to form a response. Her dark blue eyes then fell to their feet, the waves shyly kissing their toes.

“Well, th-that simply couldn’t be… Because, I would be quite lost without you.” She’d respond, her words trying their best to stand strong, but like a newborn deer, its legs hardly managed to keep them up. “Who would I follow, when I don’t know which way to go? A-and, who would I run to, when I’m just not strong enough?” She’d sheepishly interrogate the man at her side.

“Even when we leave this world for the next, I’ll always have your back. A promise is a promise.” He’d tease.
