Petyr 485 Share Posted September 30, 2011 Quite a good guide! My first staff was made of sturdy oak, and I have been working on fusing several woods together. I top my staffs typically with more wood.
Neri 3590 Share Posted September 30, 2011 I prefer to carry a spell-blade or bladed staff. Staffs can be far too unwieldy in the intense melee of combat, and are more prone to breaking when struck. I also prefer my smaller magical conduit because it's more subtle, damned oren guards and their bloody superstitions because many are alarmed when they meet a staff-wielding figure in a robe. -pulls out her blade- It's called Ashantu, "Remember" in my native tongue. It's the only thing I have to remind me of the family I once failed, to great tragedy. I thought about throwing it into a gutter many times, but it has proven dependable, reliable and most of all, a great ally. It's roughly four and a half palm-lengths long, with a curved blade. The hilt is bone-ivory ground down from the tusks of the creatures of the north as well as any roaming once-dead I have encountered. It has a red cloth tied around the hilt for grip, which can also be tied to my wrist. (It can save your life if you happen to get disarmed!) The actual blade itself is made from lava-forged Blazantium ((Can't think of a RP name for Blaze rods XD)), with a backbone of folded steel, which has a circular incision, great for cutting ropes and what-not. It's said that if you look at the blade from the corner of your eye, the blade seems to burn with a ethereal flame. Add a chapter on magical blades and I'll be sure to donate some money to you, Ambros. Very well written!
Sagwort 833 Author Share Posted September 30, 2011 I will be sure to resurch up on these blades. I wield a staff and a blade, as staffs in melee have a longer range then a sword, made of iron and diamond it will never break. It was given as a gift to me many years ago and has served its use, its name being Glandor. My staff how ever is made of maple and has a Onyx and moonstone mix at the top. Petyr 485 Share Posted September 30, 2011 Indeed, a staff is not always appropriate when in the heat of battle, though it heals and conducts magic far better than any spellblade. ((Perhaps the Skill plugin shoul have a "battle-staff" skill as well?))
Sagwort 833 Author Share Posted September 30, 2011 Magical Sword A staff has many uses but a war mage might prefer a sword over a staff, due to its easy concealment and is much wieldier then a large staff. The Handle The handle of a sword can be made out of a number of things, wood, metals, rare ores, and such. The handle itself can be embedded with a charm to make the sword stronger then it truly is. Iron Iron is a common sword handle material as it is easy to come by and also easy to shape into a good handle. Bone Whether it is ivory or the rib of an enderman bone has been used for many years in the making of sword handles. It can be crafted and polished into wonderful hues of white, purple, black or a mix of all of them. Wood Any form of hard wood is a great easy material to make a sword handle from. Although this type of handle can break easier it makes the sword much lighter then it truly is. Iron Mix One can mix iron with a number of different materials to create different colors to the hilt. Simply melt down the metal and mix the other materials with it and place into a mold to harden The Blade The most important part of the sword as it does the cutting. The blade can be made from an array of materials that are dense enough not to break Iron A common material that can shaped into many different shapes to make the most unique of swords Diamond A rare material but is the best material to use on any sword blade. If mixed with other materials colors other than blue can be created. Stone An old material but sturdy, although many of these blades are heavy and blunt they will serve their masters till the end Mixing Materials The mixing of other materials with the blade or hilt can create magical properties to an otherwise boring sword. Many different gems and metals have been mixed into magical blades to help in battle. If you see the chapter on staffs you will find the gems and metals that can be mixed into the sword The Pommel The Pommel is the knob at the end of the hilt and is often decorated with a number of things. If one were to possess magical powers they could place a gem or other charmed item to enchant their blade. Ivory This can be received from a skeleton and turned placed at the end of a sword. Ivory possess a number of magical properties such as silent blade, swiftness, and a clean cut. It also can be used to cast simple spells like that of a simple bone staff would Magical Gems See staff chapter for more details Spider Eye If you were to put the glassy eye of a spider on the end of your blade it would give the wielder several seconds of foresight on what the opponents’ next move will be Metals See staff chapter for more details

cometking123 236 Share Posted October 1, 2011 *looks at the man* Ah...Magicks. Quite a finicky thing to control. I don't like to pursue those kinds of objectives. Why shoot a fireball when you can have a nice, beautiful sword like this. *takes out a sword, the curved blade shining with white light like the heavens in the man's eyes." A little bit bright eh? Sorry, The first time I got this blade I had the ill fortune of looking into it as well. *sheaths the sword, the brightness from the sword disappears.* If you want to know what this sword is, I name it "Sol" Sun in the Latin tongue. The blade is made out of a special iron known as brightsteel, found only in a specific section of the mountain of the dwarves. Other than that it's quiet ordinary. A dark wood pommel, and a gem, Quartz, to be precise. It's not magical in any way, the light comes from polishing it with zeal and diligence. Anyway, I suppose you must be busy...Tata. Sagwort 833 Author Share Posted October 1, 2011 Magic is not used by its wielders for shooting fireballs and binding souls. It is a path only those who are worthy will follow. They grow wise on this path which will set them apart from the common being.
