In hopes to clarify requirements or questions regarding the Whitelist Application Process, the Community Team has created this guide for New Players to reference and use for help! You're about to join the oldest roleplaying server in Minecraft. In order to join, you'll want to make an application after reading a little bit about our server and its lore. The Basics: Minecraft Account Name: Must be appropriate. Fill in your Minecraft Username here, not your website/forum username. Be sure to type it out correctly. Your age: You must be thirteen (13) years old or older to join the server. Rules: You must have checked “read” on this question to be accepted. If you’re confused or need clarification on any of these rules, feel free to ask a staff member in-game, over the forums, or on Discord! The server rules can be found here, be sure to read over all of them: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/rules/ Your time zone must be selected. Referral:This is to answer how you discovered the server. A response is not required, but you must at least select “Other”. Discord: This does not require a response if you don’t want to share your Discord. A Discord Account is not required to join the server, but it is recommended to receive an instant notification that your application has either been reviewed or set on pending. Definitions: Powergaming and Metagaming definition: The definitions to each of these can be found here: https://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Metagaming_%26_Powergaming It can help to include an example of each to show you understand both of these, an example is not required though. This must be written in your own words, plagiarism will not be accepted. How would you define roleplay, and have you ever Roleplayed before?You must answer the question to the best of your knowledge and what you know of roleplay already. If you’ve never roleplayed before, that’s alright, you won’t be denied because of it. You simply need to be willing to learn and understand! Confusing Rules: If there are no rules that confuse you or leave you with questions, just say “No”. If you’re confused about any rules, please say so here and which rules specifically so we can explain and help you understand them! You will not be denied for not understanding a rule. Character Basics: Character Name: Must be appropriate. Cannot use the last name from an existing notable family without providing proof of permission from someone in that family. Can not be the name of an already existing character from another medium (ex: Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, etc.) Character Race:You can only apply as any of the races listed in the drop-down menu. For more information on each, check out the link here: https://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/index.php?title=Races Character Age:Your character must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, regardless of their race. If your character is a human, they may be at most 50 years old. All other races may be at most 100 years old. Physical Description:Must match the skin you choose for your character, or vice versa. Must match your character’s race. Be sure to reference the “physical attributes” section under the race’s wiki page if you have questions on how they should appear. Must be purely physical, don’t include anything about their personality in here. Personality Traits and Quirks:Must be purely personality, don’t include anything physical here. Must include at least one significant negative trait, such as being egotistical or hot-headed. Character Aspirations/What They Want to Achieve:What is your character’s goal(s)? Their dreams? What do they want to do with their life? Must relate to their biography in some way, and your response should be at least two sentences long. Biggest Fear:Must be an addition to a character’s personality. For example, you wouldn’t include “fear of death” because everyone has a natural aversion to death. This doesn’t add to anyone’s personality or help describe who they are. Your response must include a reason why. Ex: A fire that burned down their childhood home caused them to have a fear of fire, or the death of a parent gave them a fear of abandonment, etc. The response should be at least two sentences long. Character Biography Character Biography: Must be at least six sentences long. If you don’t know what to add, try thinking more about your character’s backstory. Where are they from? What were their parents like? Why are they how they are? Must include at least one lore reference. These can be major events, wars, religion, etc. Here are some links that may help you find some! Server Wiki Home Page Server Races Nations and Settlements Current Map Avoid using common character tropes. If you don’t know what this means, check out this link: Character Roleplay Tropes Cannot claim to be royalty, nobility, notable, well-known, or too wealthy in any way. Cannot include powergaming or metagaming (a common example is someone saying they killed an entire bandit caravan by themselves). Cannot have any knowledge of or know how to use any magic of any kind. Roleplay Scenario Response: Must include at least one piece of dialogue surrounded by quotes; such as saying, “Hello there!” Must include at least one action, such as saying: *Sally smiles at the merchant. Cannot include any sort of metagaming or powergaming. Your response should not project ANY thoughts into emotes. Emotes should only include what others would see, not what your character is thinking. Ex, do not write anything such as, *Sally thinks the man is ugly “Hello there!” Your response should be in third person! Do not write: I smile and wave Instead write: Sally smiles and waves Character Skin:Your character’s skin must match the physical description you wrote for them. If you wrote that your character has brown hair in your physical description, your character can not have white hair on their skin. Must match their character’s race. If your character is an elf, they can not have the skin of an orc. Must be up to server standards. For free to use skins, or examples of “standard quality” skins, check out the server’s Skin Archive here: https://sites.google.com/view/lotc-skinarchive/home Submitting Your Application Once you’ve filled out all the questions on your application, simply click “save” at the bottom of the page. It typically takes about one to three (1-3) days for your application to be reviewed once it’s submitted. Application reviewers look over them in the order they are submitted, so you should be patient when waiting for a response on your application. Pending: If your application is reviewed and set on “Pending”, please look over the reasons your reviewer listed and correct them by editing your application. After your application is set to pending, you will have twenty-four hours (24 hrs.) from the time it was reviewed to make the needed changes. If corrections are not made within this time, your application will automatically be denied. If this occurs, no fear, you are free to apply again with the same application as long as the needed changes are completed on your new submission. Denied: If your application was denied, you are free to reapply immediately after, just be sure to correct anything that was listed under your original application. If you have any questions about the reasons your application was denied, feel free to message the person that reviewed your application or another staff member. Accepted: If your application was accepted, then congratulations and welcome to the server! After your application is set to “accepted” you should be automatically whitelisted as long as you typed the correct Minecraft Username on your application. If your username is incorrect on your application and it failed to whitelist you, send a message to the staff member that reviewed your application or another staff member to get you sorted!
