Abdication of Friedrich Redclyf Mösu

5th of The First Seed, 84 S.A

On the 5th of the First Seed, in 84 of the Second Age, Friedrich I finally returned to Myrine, where he was met with complaints and doubts over the future of Myrine by his Aesirs, the ministers of Redclyf, who were concerned that the Duke was never really present to take care of official stances and duties in the last several years. After words were exchanged and a suggestion added by Friedrich, both sides came to an agreement: Friedrich should abdicate and pass on the title to a Mösu in the house. Friedrich agreed to these terms that were proposed due to the fact that the crown of the duchy had grown too heavy on his head, and he was weary of its weight.

Chapter I: Abdication of Duke Friedrich I

I, Friedrich the First, of the Dual Duchies of Redclyf-Rozania,  and Lord-Protector of Almar, do hereby declare my irrevocable determination to renounce the Throne & Crown of Dukeship for Myself and for My descendants, and I desire that effect should be given to this Declaration of Abdication Immediately. 

 

In token whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this 5th day of the First Seed, 84 of the Second Age, in the presence of the witnesses whose signatures are subscribed.

Chapter II: New Duke of The Dual Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania

 

Upon the Abdication of Friedrich the First, Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu shall inherit all the titles tied to Dukeship from Friedrich the First and shall later be crowned Duke of the Dual Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania & Lord-Protector of Almar. 

 

Due to the fact that Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu is yet a child not fit for Dukeship, a regent shall be appointed who shall guide the Duchy until the child reaches legal age and can take up the mantle of Duke of Redclyf-Rozania & Lord-Protector of Almar.

Chapter III: The Duties of the Regent & Their Rights

 

The Regent for Duke Björn the First shall guide and maintain the Duchy’s territories and its overall well-being until Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu is old enough to take on the mantle of Dukeship himself. Their rights as Regent include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

1. They shall be allowed to appoint and remove ministers within the council of Redclyf with the approval of the Aesir of Aesirs. 

2. They shall be able to raise the Red Banner for war, both defensive and offensive, as they see fit. 

3. They shall be able to set taxes with the majority approval of the council and mainly the Aesir of Coin.

4. They shall be able to spend the treasury of the Duchy as they see fit with the approval of the Aesir of Coin and ⅓ of the Aesirs or with the Majority support of the Aesirs.

5. They shall be able to set duchy-wide policies and enact decrees with a majority of the council's approval and support. 

6. They shall abolish and establish diplomatic relations with other entities & realms as they see fit.

 

Despite these far-reaching powers, the Regent does not hold power or the authority to declare themselves Duke, nor can they remove or replace the person for whom they are regent. 

 

Things that may not be mentioned in this chapter shall be considered a right but must ALWAYS be enacted with MAJORITY support from the Aesirs.

 

The man that shall be appointed Regent until Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu becomes old enough shall be Lord Uhtred Mösu. They shall swear an Oath to abide by the conditions set down by their regency and to perform the duties that come with it. It shall be sworn in front of witnesses, both orally and in writing.

 

I, Lord Uhtred Mösu, Lord of Midblossom, Ataman of The Wild Ones, and Lord-Protector of Rozania, hereby swear upon my honor, the honor of my father, and the honor of all those that have lived before me and will live after me, and upon my faith to the Lady of the Lake, to protect and maintain the borders and wellbeing of the Dual Duchy of Redclyf-Rozania for the entirety of my Regentship. I swear not to abuse my power as regent nor to accept bribes from anyone, good nor evil, and if found doing so then I shall abide by the will of the council and shall not go against their decisions. I swear to relinquish my title of regent once Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu becomes old enough and to follow the conditions and rights of regency until then.

Chapter IV: Countermeasures to Regent Corruption

 

If a Regent is found abusing their power in any way or is found partaking in acts of corruption such as taking bribes in any shape or form, then the council of Aesirs shall have the right to remove and overthrow the regent and to void all the edicts and decrees of said Regent as they see fit. Upon the Regent having been found to abuse their power or violate any of the rules and guidelines which they have been given, a vote of no confidence in the Regent’s abilities shall be put forward. If the majority votes in favor, then active measures can be taken to remove the regent and void their decrees and edicts as they see fit. Furthermore, the regent may be punished according to Ducal law and stripped of titles if deemed necessary.

 

Once the Regent has been disposed of, a vote shall be held within the Council on whom shall take on the role of Regent of the Duchy. Barons, Baronesses, and high-ranking officials within the government shall be able to nominate themself for the role of regent, although they shall not be able to vote on themself.

 

To ensure that neither the Aesirs nor the Regent become corrupt and start plots for their own gain, Björn Ragnarrsson Mösu shall have the ability and right to veto the vote of no confidence and veto the edicts and decrees of the regent.

The ex-Duke of Redclyf-Rozania would turn in his saddle to look behind at Myrine, the city he left behind. "It was a good time while it lasted." He'd mumble to no one but himself, "Retirement is good though." Friedrich would look at the open road ahead of him. "All I need is my sword and my horse, I can finally wander the roads as I did in my youth. Almar, I was strong then." He'd lament, and then with a snap of the reins he's off.
