A RESPONSE FROM ELD ROTH

Seated within the library of the great manor which resides upon the lands of Eld Roth, Lady Ro’ya Nullivari beheld the Avir missive addressed to herself within her palm. Her sharp, viridescent gaze drifted across the writing that were situated upon the page. It was here she called forth her husband and eldest son, informing them of the contents of the message. 

 

With a singular nod to the two men, their agreement reached, Ro’ya dipped her own quill in sable ink and began to pen her response.

I hope this missive finds you equally well.  Foremost, I’d like to offer both mine and my Lord husband’s gratitude in the offering of Lady Vaela Vaedrar to be joined in union with our eldest son, Kallias Nullivari.  

 

However, while we most look forward to the time in which our sons marry and indent their own mark upon this world, I must decline your offer of an arranged matrimony. It is customary within our own household that our children bear the great responsibility of choosing for themselves their own paths and thus suffering any consequences of such actions upon their own. 

 

That said, I would not wish for Lady Vaela’s journey to have been in vain, as I am sure she is but halfway across the sea already. Therefore, I offer a slight alteration to your original proposition. 

 

The Nullivari agree to formally host Lady Vaela Vaedrar within our lands and take full responsibility for her as an esteemed guest of our household. The Lady Vaela and our son, Kallias will have the opportunity to firstly become acquainted and thus decide on their own volition should they wish to begin courtship. As a fellow mother, I’m sure you will find comfort in this removal of unnecessary stress on Lady Vaela, while I find comfort in my son’s continued ability to find his own way. 

 

Furthermore, we also decline to receive Lady Vaela’s inheritance, another decision to be made of her own accord.

 

You have my personal assurance that Lady Vaela will remain safe under our protection as her formal hosts, in what are foreign lands, and will be treated as if she were mine own. I have our servants preparing her rooms as I pen this missive.

Within the city of stars, the subject of this noble correspondence seemed oblivious to the arrangements being made between the two mothers. Instead, she pored over tomes regarding Celia'nor's founding and history, keen to make use of the information Lord Amethil had kindly provided her the day previous. In her provided room above the Slumbering Scholar, she inspected her attire and made sure no platinum curl was left out of place. All this she did in anticipation of her debut at Lady Nullivari's ball, where the young Lord Kallias would take his measure of her.

 

"As I shall likewise take my measure of him," The Avirian lady would murmur, a prideful tone to match the smirk spread across her visage.
