HORROR AND TERROR

Origins

Smoke and shadow swept over Aegis as The First War occurred, a war of heaven brought unto earth that saw slaughter unforetold. Neridraza was a small, unotable Dragaar known best amongst others as observant and distant. Her scales brown and white as a snow capped peak, the Dragaar was full of youth and naivety to the atrocities of war. Tales of the slaughter were spread amongst her kin as she felt compelled in duty to defend them. While not close, she felt as if she had no other choice but to aid those who had brought her life. She was untrained for war and inexperienced with combat, green as grass in all but instinct. But this was her purpose, this was her calling.

It was amongst the battlefields against the undead that terror first met the young Dragaar, invading her soul as her mind was consumed with what she saw. Undead legions spreading from near to far, a swathe of ruin and decay as far as the sun stretched. Neridraza joined her kin in striking the battlefield, setting hordes of undead to the torch of her infallible flame. Terror had not ruined the dragaar upon her first battle, but made her greater than what she was. The truths of duty and might had steeled her will, if for a brief time.

It was soon after, that she witnessed The Cannibal’s first atrocity. The Archdragaar, The Titan, Mountain-Made-Living, Azdromoth- corrupted before her eyes. She watched as Azdromoth at first battled against the curse of ruin that had wracked him from tip to tail, understanding what must be done were he too much of a coward to do it himself.

Yet she was unaware of how Azdromoth was not struggling- but evolving.

In a frenzy as his own kin watched in horror, the youthful Dragaar witnessed the greatest creation of Dragur turned into his greatest mistake. As Azdromoth ripped his brethren to pieces, blood of the same father spilling to the twisted land below, Neridraza shattered. She was not a soldier, nor a warrior. A daughter following orders of her father, maybe. A coward in steelen skin and with fiery breath, perhaps. Neridraza witnessed among dozens of her own as The Archdragaar embraced Iblees warmly in an unholy vow of fealty, his hungering eyes turning to the rest.

She fled among other Dragaar who had managed to escape. Stricken with a thousand emotions, Neridraza knew she could not continue in the war. Duty still consumed her as the silent sister wished to help, but feared more than anything the fate Azdromoth had chosen that day.

The Wayward Dragaar

Aftermath

Neridraza fled the battlefield as her braver kin fought and died against The Deceiver, as the war met its end. Dragur sealed away as those veterans of the war went with him, chained beneath the earth to never be found. She felt useless in her inability not to protect, but to serve her father who had given her life. The Dragaar vowed to make use of what she had left in his interest- her Lexicon- to give him life once again. It would take beyond millenia, but she would scrutinise each end of the earth in order to continue what Dragur had started in understanding all knowledge.

She roamed the earth by foot until she landed upon Asulon, meeting the descendants of the continent as she followed them closely. They had proved more interesting than any of the others beyond- from the inhabitants of the smoking remains where Yulthar lay to the distant shores of Aeldin, these descendants seemed to have been touched by fate. Observing closely as centuries passed, Neridraza followed further and further as she continued to fulfill her lexicon with hundreds of thousands of stories told and observed by those who had lived in these lands. Silent as a whisper and ever focused upon her goal, Neridraza had stayed centuries in her mortal form. Like a muscle unused, her power waned as her Lexicon continued to be written about everything that roamed the earth but herself. Appearing as countless different characters of her own make, Neridraza became indistinguishable from descendants as she lost any aspect of her former Dragaar power. She followed despite the countless perils and the fate she had condemned herself to as a half-mortal, blending in as she wore the skin of man, elf, dwarf, and orc as if it were what she was born with.

Present Day

The Archiver

Distant and observant as always, Neridraza lives among descendants as common as the rest. Forever stuck in mortal form, the only parts of her former self she has kept is her Lexicon, and her task. Neridraza is consumed by the burden of duty in continuing Dragur’s work as Daemon of Knowledge, fulfilling his legacy where he is helpless to. Her life devoted to listening, seeing, and archiving anything she would witness to her endless fountain of knowledge and wisdom that her Lexicon has become. While unable to wield any form of real power, Neridraza seeks in any way to lend her aid in continuing Dragur’s legacy and work on the mortal plane. Whilst she never has, and likely never will appear to descendants with her plea, she sits in wait. Until the end of time, if necessary.

Purpose

Explanation

Neridraza as a character was both very undeveloped in lore and backstory, and has a place to serve as both an interesting piece of worldbuilding and curiosity. Whilst she used to be played it is unlikely that will continue going forward as she serves a more background role as she was both intended, and is better suited to. There could be many plot points developed not from Neridraza, but that could develop with Neridraza as she aids in the stories of others in the future to accomplish a task which helps her own.
