The luminous stars, distant titans, and enigmatic constellations have not only served as a source of inspiration but have also influenced various aspects of life on our lands, including the very make up of botany. Observing the heavens has been an essential practice for both astronomers and alchemists, as they have sought to unravel the mysteries of our realm and understand its profound impact on the natural world. In this age of exploration and enlightenment, two ancient practices have converged to deepen our understanding of the interconnectedness between the heavens and the land: the Office of the Astronomer and the Office of the Alchemist. Our scholars, previously independent in their pursuits, have found common ground in exploring how celestial phenomena influence botanical life, and how the constellations of the Haeseti Pantheon and alchemical symbols are intertwined. The Court Astronomer has long been dedicated to studying the cosmos, mapping the stars, and deciphering the movements of celestial bodies. Herself and her team of astronomers have noted the profound impact of cosmic events, such as solar and lunar eclipses, meteor showers, and planetary alignments, on the land’s climate and vegetation. For decades, they have observed how the changing positions of stars and planets affect the seasons, crop growth, and the behaviour of animals, all of which are integral to botany. On the other hand, the Court Alchemist has focused on understanding the essence of matter and its transformation through alchemical processes. Herself and her team of alchemists have sought to unlock the secrets of nature and its connection to the celestial realm. In their search for the knowledge, they have explored the symbolic language of alchemical texts, which often draw inspiration from celestial motifs, including the seven main constellations of the Haeseti Pantheon. The Haeseti Pantheon, newly reformed and revered by the people of the land, consists of seven principal constellations, often simply referred to as The Celestial Seven, each representing a unique aspect of life and nature. From the majestic Queen, symbolising selflessness and leadership, to the graceful Wind, representing the abundance of flora, these constellations have long been associated with specific plants and their growth patterns. The Office of the Astronomer and the Office of the Alchemist have discovered that these constellations' positions and movements align with seasonal changes, affecting the germination, growth, and fruition of certain plants. Through their collaboration, the Office of the Astronomer and the Office of the Alchemist have revealed the interconnectedness between the celestial and terrestrial realms. They have shown that the cosmic dance of stars and planets profoundly influences the lands they shine down upon, shaping the growth and properties of botanical life. This shared understanding has led to the emergence of a new field of study known as "Celestial Botany." Celestial Botany is an ever-evolving discipline that continues to deepen our appreciation for the cosmos and its influence on the natural world. As astronomers and alchemists continue to collaborate and explore the ties between the Celestial Seven of the Haeseti Pantheon and the groupings of alchemical symbols, they uncover more profound insights into the mysteries of botany and its intimate connection to the stars above. Together, they forge a path towards a greater understanding of the universe and its impact on life on Aevos. his study features key excerpts from the Lady Alchemy’s Ars Fragmenti: The Art of Symbols with further elaboration done by the Lady Astronomy. ✧──────────────⊱🜂⊰──────────────✧ I Graph by the Lady Alchemy, 485 E.S. n the realm of ancient wisdom, the stars have always been a source of inspiration and fascination. Alchemy, an esoteric practice that sought to transform base elements into pure substances, found connections with the cosmos and its constellations. According to the studies conducted by the Ladies Astronomy and Alchemy, the Celestial Seven were believed to yield different properties that aligned with alchemical symbols. These groupings, as outlined in the Lady Alchemy’s graph, unveiled profound insights into the mystical world. ✧⊱🜂⊰✧ The following is an excerpt from the Lady Alchemy’s Ars Fragmenti: The Art of Symbols: If we are to categorise the un-categoriseable, we must first determine the categories into which we are sorting things. In the context of the Symbols, we will make use of one category pertaining to the outer nature of the Symbol-Pair (henceforth referred to as a ‘Pair’), and one category pertaining to the inner nature of the Pair. For the sake of clarity however, we will begin by establishing a list of the 19 known Pairs. They are as follows: 1) SUN AND MOON:The first category, the external, describes whether the effect of the Pair is active or passive. These have been ascribed to the Sun and the Moon respectively, honouring their differing roles in the lives of Man. Sun-aligned Pairs can be associated with masculine energies, active effects, and the metals Gold, representing power and wealth, and Iron, representing strength and tenacity. Moon-aligned Pairs are associated with feminine energies, passive effects, and the metals Silver, representing intuition and wisdom, and Copper, representing desire and prosperity. There are also three Pairs that fall between, beyond, or outside of this first category, due to their all-encompassing natures. These Pairs are associated with the Stars, though their broad natures lead to little definite meaning to ascribe to this category. The☉Sun-aligned Pairs are: Balance–Instability Burning–Freezing Connection–Separation Courage–Fear Endurance–Curtailment Peace–Rage Strength–Weakness Swiftness–Slowness The ☽ Moon-aligned Pairs are: Agility–Impediment Clarity–Blindness Grace–Rigidity Growth–Reduction Heat–Coldness Purity–Poison Sound–Silence Vigour–Lethargy 2) EMOTIONAL AND MATERIAL: The second category, the internal, determines whether the Pair acts on the Emotional Sphere or the Material Sphere. This stands largely as guidance for the Alchemist in the creation of a potion, and bears minimal symbolism or meaning of its own. For example, an Alchemist wishing to halt movement may use the Material Slowness or Curtailment, but an Alchemist wishing to halt thought may use the Emotional Blindness or Silence. These distinctions are imperfect, however, and should not be taken as absolute, concrete fact. Above all, it is the Alchemist’s intentions that determine what her inventions achieve, not the materials she puts into them. The Emotional Pairs are: Balance–Instability Clarity–Blindness Connection–Separation Courage–Fear Heat–Coldness Peace–Rage Purity–Poison Sound–Silence The Material Pairs are: Agility–Impediment Burning–Freezing Endurance–Curtailment Grace–Rigidity Growth–Reduction Strength–Weakness Swiftness–Slowness Vigour–Lethargy 3) TRIA PRIMA The three Pairs not listed here are the same as the ♃ Star-aligned Pairs described above, those being: Life–Death Light–Dark Order–Chaos These Pairs are too broad in nature to fall under any specific category. Although Order–Chaos may be considered Emotional, and Light–Dark Material, Life–Death is all-encompassing. These three Symbols are tied to the Tria Prima, a set of substances once believed by ancient Alchemists to be the materials with which the Creator formed the world. The Tria Prima, and their associated Pairs, encapsulate the following: 🜔 Salt | Light–Dark The essence of all things. Purification, crystallisation. The body; physicality, flesh. The Material. 🜍 Sulphur | Order–Chaos Consciousness, thought. The soul, the spirit of life. Evaporation, dissolution. The Emotional. ☿ Cinnabar | Life–Death Also called Mercury. Change in state; between solid and liquid, between life and death, between body and soul.
