Hey LotC,

 

This is a follow-up to a previous community feedback post regarding the addition of new chat colors. I have updated the required legacy plugin(s) to support new colors and additional formatting options. These updates can be implemented immediately. However, before proceeding, I would like to gather further feedback to ensure the changes are applied correctly.

New Chat Colors

With a practically infinite amount of color options, to keep the theme of and general aesthetic of LotC, I’ve provided a few examples of pastel colors seen below:

 

 

What are the community's thoughts on these color schemes? Given our talented pool of skinners and pixel artists, we would appreciate suggestions and insights on chat formatting from those with more experience. At present, we're thinking of limiting these perks to VIPs as an EULA-compliant reward for their support in maintaining the server.

 

Another feature under consideration is allowing higher tiers of VIPs and above to choose custom chat colors using hex codes (e.g., #ffb3ba). Naturally, this would be subject to reasonable limitations to avoid unreadable or unsuitable colors.

Implemented Changes

• Improved chunk loading times (with @Llir).

• Increased entity render distance for shop items, horses, animals, item frames, etcetera (more changes coming).

• Stabilized server TPS (ticks per second) at peak times.

Proposed Changes:

Here are some potential changes the team is looking to introduce to the server to enhance the player experience, pending administrative approval. 

 

We would like to solicit further feedback from the community regarding these specific changes and any other changes you might like to see on LotC. Feel free to comment any further suggestions that were not mentioned here.

 

• Re-adding the ability to request players to halt by clicking on them from afar. (Displays a hint above the item-bar).

• Potentially adding more skin slots and removing cooldowns

  • Making cosmetics such as OptiFine capes and various ones, e.g., Lunar visible again.

• Removal of CT resource island cooldown and fixing unharvestable nodes.

• The addition of training swords for every type of Surge weapon, for example, a Daemonsteel variant.

• The return of colored leather armor for players as well as horses.

  • The removal of the cooldown between mounting and dismounting a horse.

• Optimizing the war server to achieve mostly stable TPS with parity to the main server, if not better performance akin to how it was when it was first implemented (cc: @Halt).

user-interface related, it may be useful to have a standardised set of options and then a specific 'customizable' option.

I'd like to see the pastel color previews shown be available for all players. Maybe Coal VIPs could have a larger range of chat colors, say three extra? While Iron VIPs could have the custom chat colors? I understand adding things to the higher VIP tiers is important, however, asking your arrange player to spend close to $300 USD for custom hex codes feels absurd. I know that it is just an example though it still feels like a really steep price tag. Having played the server for five and a half years, I notice people slowly make their way up the VIP tiers in time, starting with Coal VIP because they want the ability to use bold and italics in their emotes. Keep the chat settings low VIP ranks, please?

Would love to see more skin slots and NPCs. What is the cool down for? Name changing, skin swapping, persona swapping? All of the above?

I don't really think there is a need for the halt feature to come back? Maybe having it as a ping would be better? So it's more versatile.
