What circumstances led to this ban?

 

During the peak of the war between Veletz and.. Well, everyone, I provoked one of the moderators with a pretty stupid gif which ended up leading to me being banned for poor attitude towards staff. Initially I didn't understand the ban, but considering that the mod and me had been involved in a situation not too long before it, it's fair that it got taken as pretty hostile. Not that it could exactly be considered friendly. The gif was a firing line from a comedy sketch created by Monty Python (This is a screenshot of the gif at around the middle point, portraying the overall theme of it -->

This was just dumb to do, and I honestly don't know why I did it since it's not like I was retaliating to anything, it was just out of the blue in response to a rule change that I disagreed with. Anywho, this initiated my ban. In hindsight, it was a stupid decision. My ban was justified, I don't dispute that. Given my history on the server as a generally problematic individual, the length was also justified. (See here --> https://gyazo.com/3dfc499ba093e2a9ef011e06839ac1be)

Later on, someone posted a group advertisement. Their group consisted of rogues, assassins, underhanded individuals with plenty of intrigue and backstabbery all around. In a rather snarky remark, I directed them to the Commonwealth of the Petra; stating that the people within the commonwealth would match with their ideals. At this point, I considered myself done with LOTC and took the opportunity to make a dig at someone I had previously had issues with. Again, there was no real reason for this, and I could have simply kept my hands off of the keyboard. But I did not.

I wasn't in an argument, provoked to retaliation, I just took it upon myself to make sly digs at individuals who I considered myself opposed to. I understand that my actions were toxic and that I should not have said or done what I did. It was immature, and there's no justification for it. I also know that my ban was the culmination of my general attitude on the server, NOT just the singular incidents. And I promise to do better going forwards, simply by just not trying to start trouble and conflict, which I obviously did to an extent where it was necessary to remove me from the community.

 

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

 

I agree with the ban, and especially the severity of it. The more I think about it, up until a couple months ago I would've said I did nothing wrong. If the timer was just allowed to tick down until I got unbanned, there would've been no point. The fact that I actually have to appeal, and take responsibility for my actions is a good thing. Overall, my ban really does show me that general conflict causation is not permissible on the server. That's something I should've reasonably known beforehand, but didn't take into account with my general activity on the server. The reason for my ban is honestly just me being an unpleasant person to people that I didn't really have to be, and to that extent I agree that my ban was warranted until I changed my behaviour.

 

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

 

I have plenty of friends that play LOTC! I'd love to be able to interact with their characters and roleplay alongside them. There are communities I'd love to attend events of again. I've been banned for half a year, and I honestly just miss the communities that I've ended up part of. Ontop of that, I'd love to play my characters again. It's been twenty-six years I've been gone. My Ghost will be fine, my Vampire too. But there's a lot of catching up to do on my human. I know this sounds like a bit of a rant, but I don't know how else to phrase it. I like LOTC. I consider myself an LOTCer. I've been playing this game for the last 4 years and I've made countless friends and stories in that time. I suppose that to sum up my motivations, I'd just love the opportunity to return and play again. Immerse myself in some of the aspects of LOTC that I've been waiting to try out during my ban, play with my friends again, try out some ideas I've had in mind, etc..
