Xergarok 811 Share Posted July 3, 2024 Old: Cremation Taking the body of an animal or descendant who was slain by saturation, it may be burned and rendered to ash in a freeform ritual by a Mystic, conjuring many small Will o’ Wisps to act as familiars and companions for the dead. Anchored to their collected ashes, usually stored in tucked away urns and vases, wisps light often flitter about areas where necromancers linger such as dark catacombs and hindered woods. Harmless and sometimes playful, though usually dreary, these lights bounce around and lazily flutter about until their eventual demise when their ashes are broken free from whatever stores them or emptied onto the ground where they are made inert and the lingering soul and its fragments are cast back into Ebrietaes to rest. New: Cremation Taking the body of an animal or descendant who was slain by saturation, it may be burned and rendered to ash in a freeform ritual by a Mystic, conjuring many small Will o’ Wisps to act as familiars and companions for the dead. If the animal or descendant was not slain through saturation, cremation may still be performed if the mystic uses the body for the Rite of Beseeching and succeeds in anchoring the soul to the body anyways. Using cremation without saturation requires a successful Rite of Beseeching, which includes at least a singular successful roll following the Rite of Beseeching regulations. This is allowed to be overt, and does not need to come across as inherently occult. Reasoning: A bit of a harmless QoL amendment. Cremation is an aesthetic ability which is simply used to provide comfort for phantasmal entities and to provide some aesthetic light. As can be seen from how it is originally written, a mystic can self-roleplay making wisps (because you can use saturation on animals). In theory this means one can always obtain ashes for wisps. This small amendment would simply allow mystics to handle bodies of people they have not killed themselves, enabling them to perform a general gravekeeper service for others. It expands the niche for those who would like to use this ability more.
winterblood 11181 Share Posted July 3, 2024 I would say imbuing a corpse with ectoplasm could suffice making Will o Wisps, though I like the concept of pulling a tortured soul from Ebrietaes to transform into quiet wisps +
