What circumstances led to this ban?

 

A personal dispute that became heated. The other part of this dispute, smmers was rightfully upset and vented her frustration to someone who does not know me, and they made the report. This dispute occurred in a private friend's discord, the core of which consisted of people who I have known including Smmers for nearly half a decade before ever joining LOTC. a threat was presumed when I said something along the lines of sending a pipe bomb to their mailbox in Saudi Arabia. This friend they vented to was likely concerned and contacted LOTC about an outside incident. I would hope. If it was the malicious act of punishing a stranger for slighting their friend I'll roll my eyes and continue living.

 

Are there aspects of the ban you agree and/or disagree with?

 

We will never see eye to eye about the reach of LOTC's jurisdiction. I think interfering into private matters is disgusting, LOTC Administration disagrees. Sucks to be me.

I will never change my stance in that regard. However two things can be true at the same time. What I did was wrong, I was nasty towards Smmers over a perceived action that would damn any normal friendship, but turns out it was not hers but those of others. Even if I was right, it was too far, and what I said was hurtful and I would not stoop that low again and choose to cut ties with grace rather than lash out with words for temporary short lived satisfaction.

I disagree with your jurisdiction, but concede that you possess the ban button and can do whatever you want, whenever you want, rules or not. I urge anyone reading this to find that distasteful. However you are right, I was very toxic in my actions towards Smmers. Take this as my admission and apology for breaking the rules on Toxicity. After speaking with Josh I know that the big holdup is that whether on platform or not you have to take every report of a "death threat" seriously. Fair enough, it's risk management and I can respect that.

However it is worth it to note that this was said in private amongst a group of longtime friends that prefers to handle differences between themselves without outside intervention because we do not need it. Everyone in that channel understands that it was such an outlandish thing to say and there was no real danger behind it. How do we know that for sure might you ask? Great question. It is because we know each other well and know when the other is blowing off steam.

Such is the danger of outside gossip. The person who reported this has no knowledge of our friendship and has no idea what is said as hyperbole and what is a genuine threat. For that I find them at no fault reporting the incident. However, I have said it was not a genuine threat, Smmers has said it was not and expressed they did not want to see me banned. Everyone that this incident ACTUALLY affects, never wanted a ban, knew there was no real threat, and have since made peace for several months now, almost immediately after this incident in January.

If I say it was not a threat, the person it was directed towards says it was not a threat, the close friends of both individuals say it was not a threat. The outsiders who were not invited to overhear this conversation can rest assured that there was no threat. People it affects words > strangers with no say. Knowing all this, I find it a strange thing to fixate on as it is a nothing burger. I'm more so ashamed of the appalling personal digs I said to Smmers when trying to get under her skin. It was infinitely more hurtful than this.

For the accusation of poor attitude with staff, I reject. Smmers and I were going through a personal disagreement. We were never operating in a player to staff member capacity. It was friend to friend and throwing the staff card into a personal conflict is a sure way to ruin relationships which has happened countless times in this community and others. That will not be happening to ours.

While disagreeing with jurisdiction yet admitting it's ultimately the server's administration that can do as they desire, I do hope I've cleared the air and portrayed that I am not someone the community has to worry about. I do not have a record of giving death threats, I don't give death threats, and everyone involved will speak to this unfortunate incident as it being nothing more than words cast to the wind while blowing off steam. I do not have a history of poor conduct on this server and have been nothing but compliant and respectful in all interactions with the community.

You don't have to worry about me "blowing off steam" at anyone in this community. While you're likely looking at this as a one-party fault and do not care about my grievances. I was hurt by a close friend I hold in high regard. I was wrong in my actions, and have learned from such. There is nothing anyone else in this community can do to elicit a reaction from me even close to that because there is nothing they can do to really bother me. It's a game.

I do hope this is well received and my efforts to respect where you’re coming from is acknowledged. I hope my candor is appreciated rather than the normal appeals sent in that are typically just towing the line to achieve results, or a hollow reply with no actual introspection performed. In return I ask that you do not see my dislike of outsiders meddling in my personal life as hostility towards you and understand that it is reasonable. Most rational human beings that are not constantly online, understand this. I understand I have not really given much detail as to how Smmers, Rainalyn, and ChaoticRoller and my reconciliation went. But I ask you to trust that my apology to them was genuine. I’m not proud of that moment, but I am proud of the person I am and my efforts to be a better man. I’ve accepted the criticisms, lessons, and advice by those close to me because I value their opinions and it is their place to demand that I be better. It is not LOTCs or any stranger’s place and I do not seek their advice or approval. My close friends have my best interests in mind. The administration of LOTC does not. And that is okay. Thus, I am not going to make the server privy to our private conversations. I hope you can understand and respect my reasoning and privacy.

What motivates you to return to LOTC?

 

LOTC is popular and demands all the free time of many of my friends. They're always in LOTC related discords in VC and the topics are always something about LOTC and I tire of having nothing to contribute to their conversations and inevitably just leaving bc any conversations not about LOTC gets pushed out quick. I do enjoy collaborative storytelling and the opportunity to meet people of like interest.
