Waxy epistolary pamphlets and flyers had been delivered in equal distribution across all four corners of the realm, from the hands of postmen and pirates of wanton acclaim—likely leased at an exorbitant price.

Their contents read as follows;

 

HELP WANTED: SQUIRES AND CUPBEARERS FOR ADVENTURESOME QUESTING

 

FROM THE OFFICE OF Iskander Basrid, BE THESE LETTERS WRITTEN AND DELIVERED,

 

I pray wellness and good times to all who are so lucky as to come into possession of my pamphlets. They were printed on my own stationary, by the way, and I cannot stress enough: PLEASE, DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY. My pages and economists have regretted to tell me that the market has not at all been auspicious of late. And, what is more, my coffers are actively being cleaned out day after day. If you should have any interest in my proposal, please return the fliers to me effective immediately so as they might be recycled or otherwise pawned off for a price leagues costlier than I was offered them at. The ancient and most noble seal of my family is scorched on the monogram.

 

I am Iskander Basrid, Count Emeritus of Susa (also, the Count of Nothing), four-time consecutive winner of the Veletzian Bodybuilding Pageant, two-time nonconsecutive winner of the Mr. Aaun Contest, and seafaring magnate. My age has rendered me old and grey, but far from frail and crestfallen. The tales of questing bands and motley adventure crews of time immemorial are countless; ancient brotherhoods of chivalric renown sworn to each other in blood and singed steel who spelunked the realm in daring endeavour. My own adventuring days were spent on ship bilges charting the open waters from coast to coast, the legendary stories of which are stamped on the oceanbed. But, my ambitions have washed ashore to the open country, where I have need of a new crew with whom I may brave the lands from mountains measureless to Man down to the sunless sea.
