PROCEDURE FOR PURSUANCE OF THE PRIESTHOOD

LET membership of the priesthood of Hurin be discerned with prayer. Let the discerner invoke the intercession of Hurin, the archetype of all priests, and Juli'el, whose great charism is the discernment between good and evil. For Saul desired the Priesthood also, and it was her discernment of his spirit, and her steadfastness, that kept him out of the tents of Hurin.

 

Let the inquirer, having discerned rightly, find a priest already anointed, and disclose forthrightly their desire. Let this priest shortly interview the inquirer and, if no disqualification is found, induct them into the status of ACOLYTE, giving them new robes as reflecting their status and sending them to a designated Proctor of this Prefect for the Priesthood.

 

Let the Proctor guide the acolyte in prayer, study, and whatever practices discerned to benefit the acolyte. Let them supervise the writing of a short thesis. Let the Acolyte indeed consult the Proctor especially concerning the subject of the Thesis,  and let them not submit the thesis until the Proctor approves it.

 

When the thesis is complete and the Proctor's has approved, let the thesis be submitted to the Prefecture. Let the Proctor certify their approval of the thesis, and I, even I myself, will review the thesis and give the Acolyte Prefecture Certification.

 

Once the Prefecture Certification has been achieved, the Acolyte may be ordained by any Bishop willing to have them.

 

Let this proclamation take effect immediately. Let the exams be no more administered to the Acolytes. Let any certification attained by the Exam System remain of full effect, such that there shall be no obstacle for any who have passed the examination to be ordained by any Bishop, provided the examination was not administered after the publication of this proclamation.

 

May God bless these new policies to grow our clergy and foster the faith of the Acolytes, that the body of the faithful may by them be fostered and made strong.

AMENDMENT I

⋅──────⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰──────⋅

LET ANY PRIEST, when so approached by one discerning the priesthood, test the discerner with Holy Salt, that the purity of the priesthood may be safeguarded.

 

LET EVERY BISHOP be considered Proctors, and let Bishops also appoint Proctors freely from among either the clergy or the laity. Let the Prefect of the Priesthood be notified of any such appointments.

AMENDMENT II

CONSIDERING that the purpose of requiring a thesis of an Acolyte is to demonstrate not only the Acolyte's understanding of doctrine, but also their ability to apply sacred knowledge for the spiritual edification of their future flock, let the theses be composed on subjects conducive to the instruction and moral strengthening of the faithful.

LET THE THESES not be written on matters of theological controversy or doctrinal disputes, but rather deal with exegesis of the scrolls, the history of the True Faith, virtue and morality, liturgical study, devotional practices, and other similar subjects so long as they would be spiritually fruitful the general lay faithful.
