“I Shall Not Falter”

OUR POWER COMES THROUGH OUR STRENGTH. A Knight’s greatest asset is his strength. While some may argue that the mind holds greater importance, a mind without the strength to act is worth little. As guardians of the realm, we must be men of action, not mere thinkers. This is why we subject ourselves to rigorous training, striving to prove our worth as true heirs of the mighty bogatyr before us.

However, the sons of Horen bear the curse of early mortality and aging. As the years pass, one’s strength wanes. Our knightly retinue cannot be plagued by this curse. To lose our strength and ability to defend is to fail in our sacred duty to protect and serve the Crown. For this reason, only young and able-bodied will be permitted to serve within the Retinue.

Knights of the Retinue will be mandated to retire at the age of sixty five, relinquishing their seats and positions at the Knight’s Table. They will retain the title ‘Ser’ and all knightly possessions acquired during their service. These retired knights, known as ‘Unseated Knights’, may still offer their aid to the Retinue in times of need - should they choose to do so. They will also be permitted to attend sittings of the Knight’s Table and offer their wisdom.

WE COME AS CROWS,

Ser Belisar var Ruthern, Knight Paramount of the Marian Order
