Explanation

 

Yesterday within the vale, while most of the city was out, I encountered Simba who decided to just be trolly and toxic. From what others have said, this is a very well known behavior of this person, who is on the server not to rp, but because they believe that RPers are fun to mess with. Throughout the span of around 25 minutes, he proceeded to try and cause trouble and mess with me multiple times, and yet did not emote once. This includes things such as punching me off of a roof without any emotes or reason other than to hurt me, breaking doors without emotes, messing with gates, etc. When I spoke in roleplay chat, he instead begged (in extremely memey poor english) in looc to be allowed to go AFK in a restricted area. Not once throughout the entire interaction did he actually go afk.

When I finally get him out of the gatehouse and hope it's over, he soon breaks back in and starts messing with the gate bell (presumably changing the timer on it since I later found it empty except for 1 piece of bread),  before  coming up with a bunch of troll excuses as to how he got back in. He brags in ooc that he's gotten in 5x times, and in looc tries to say that he'll only tell me how he got into an area I thought was out of bounds if I let him afk there.

Below is a long, yet rough, timeline of events.

1:56 I log in and alt tab to vote, only to hear myself being deliberately punched off the roof. I know it was deliberate, because it was two punches in quick succession followed by fall damage. (In chat, I later referred to this as pugsy. I might have been mistaken because I'm still remembering LOTC terms and thought it referred to any non-rp aggressive actions). I tab back in to see what happened, see him standing on the roof, and he just walks away.

1:59 [SOOC] [VIP] SimbaTheFatDog: I've snuck int othe gate house! (Screenshot 1, deliberately calling attention to his location) Shortly after, I see the gates opening and closing.

2:02 I hear doors breaking inside the gatehouse and see his name tag moving down. I walk over and, assuming he is trying to escape, open the doors for him. Instead, he walks over to the doors that I'm currently holding open, and proceeds to /break them while they are already open. No emotes have occurred, and no signs have been left. Results in ```[SOOC] [TrueBard] Gallent_Bristle: dude, stop breaking the doors for no reason``` (Screenshot 2, villainy rules 2 and 3 definitely broken)

2:03 Instead of leaving, he retreats into gate control room (having already broken the door to said room before, as well as broken a hatch) and sits down. He starts begging in poor english to be allowed to go AFK in the gatehouse. I speak in character (even if not the most verbose emotes) to try to get him to leave, and he does not emote in response (Screenshot 3). He stands up after the last line in that screenshot and goes to leave, and sits down in between the doors for just a fraction of a second before complaining about being stuck. Finally I get him to leave, and hope the interaction is over, but do not believe so.
 

I go down into the supply room because I'm remembering I have no pvp gear, and if this turns into full on pvp/pugsy (as trolling and bad villainy sometimes does), I want to have something. I hear the gate bell going off multiple times at different lengths, and decide to investigate after a bit

2:08 he brags in OOC about breaking into the gatehouse 5x times (Screenshot 5). I do not notice this until after the interaction is over.

I leave, only to find him through a hole in the wall in what I suspected was an area not meant to be accessed by players (Screenshot 6 taken after the fact). I don't know it's part of the gatehouse. I check the medicine room and area for any sign of how he got in there, suspecting exploits. He says he phased through the walls, then that he has enderpearls, then that he's an owl, and then asks me why I'm metagaming (Screenshot 7). I point out that he's breaking stuff and potentially exploiting. Results in screenshot 8.

at 2:18, he starts trying to say that it's possible to crawl through the hole in image 6. I point out that it's impossible due to the leaf above it. Crawling works by detecting a hole at foot level and spawning a barrier block above you. Without block glitching or some other exploit, you cannot get that hole at the same level as your feet.

Eventually at around 2:19 he leaves the area, allowing me to figure out it's part of the gate house again. He asks one last time if I want to know or not, and when I reply (admittedly frustrated by this point) he just says "So impolite" and leaves the Vale.

Later investigations of the area revealed only one non-expoit method to get into the gatehouse. Either the 5x number is a gross exaggeration, or he likely exploited his way in.

Later looking into his name and talks with others revealed a few things. The first is that he has presumably been on the server before, as the forum search reveals someone by his username has been previously banned/blacklisted for meme rp, bad villain rp, and combat logging. Other people in said search say he was  raiding curon/sutica, which does not raise confidence. However, despite already having apparently been on the server, Simba resubmitted two whitelist applications back in September of this year. The first was rejected due to using AI to answer the Roleplay prompt, the second being accepted 3 days later (despite still seeming ai written when investigated). This shows he does not likely take the server roleplay seriously.

The second main thing confirms that lack of confidence, and is the fact that multiple people in the vale have confirmed bad interactions with him, or at least have heard of such.  It was to the point that by mentioning his name, people immediately knew his reputation as an anti-rp troll who is likely only on the server because they want to mess with roleplayers. This is further evidenced by their current main persona, "Slayer", being a direct goblinslayer knockoff (potentially breaks Roleplay rule 9)

I did try to resolve things in a few ways, such as opening the locked doors when I thought he was trapped (only for him to continue breaking them and refusing to leave), telling him in roleplay to leave (only for him to sit there and non-seriously beg in #looc to be allowed to stay, only leaving when I implied there would be ooc consequences to him refusing to leave), and pointing out that he was, indeed, breaking rules (only for him to try and make excuses)

Desired Result of Report

At the very least, I would like Moderation to be made aware of his reputation and actions. From what has been said by others, this is not the first time he has been known to cause issues and trouble just for his own enjoyment. Any further repercussions are up to the staff based on whatever information is found in whatever investigations are done. Personally, I believe that if the others are correct, and his only purpose in being on this server is to ruin the fun for others, I believe he should not be on here, but I know that may be harsh from a single interaction. I do not wish to see the other player banned over this single thing, and would only advise such if it is found that he is indeed mostly here to degrade the experience of others.

I hope you’re well! Thanks for putting together this report. I’d like to provide some context and clarification regarding my past as well as the incident you’ve identified in your report.

 

1. I have not been on the server since 2019. My recent application was necessary due to my previous request to have my data wiped. However, this does not mean I had to re-apply due to a long-term ban. You may verify this with Llir if you’d like. 

 

2. I acknowledge my past ban and villainy blacklist throughout Axios and Atlas (2015-2019). I understand that my past may still influence people’s perception of my roleplay. However, I believe my recent villainy RP has been well-received, even within your community. You can verify this with Estretics or Littyfam.

3. As for the concerns you’ve raised about the AI-generated writing in my applications, the application team lead (Smol) is well aware of my writing style and has not raised any issues regarding the authenticity of my initial re-application.

4. Regarding your concerns around my character ‘Slayer’, my character predates the mainstream release of Goblin Slayer season 1 on October 7th, 2018 by several months. After discussions with the moderation team at the time, I was allowed to continue with the character with the exception that I dropped the ‘Goblin’ part of the name.

 

With the past issues covered, I do want to address some specifics of the incident that had occurred yesterday. 

1. The incident involving me punching you off of the roof as you were AFK was not meant to be taken as villainy. It was more of a bored interaction of me running around the empty city. I apologize if this upset you.

 

2. The gate breaking incident was not intended as villainy either. The Vale was empty at the time, and I was simply running around exploring every part of the city. The action of me breaking the doors as you held them open was meant to be a joke, and I admit that there was fault on my end for that. 

 

3. I clarified multiple times, both before, during, and after the incident that I did not exploit any mechanics to break into the gate house. I offered on multiple occasions to show you how I got in, but was either ignored or received a response I felt was unfriendly, which may had escalated my behavior. 

My biggest grievance with our interaction was your unfriendliness, and that was likely what egged me on further. Additionally, I was under the assumption that you had only ran to confront me because I announced it in SOOC that I had broken in.

Ultimately, I recognize that I had several faults throughout our interaction, starting with my attempts at alleviating some boredom but buoyed by both our frustrations. However, I do firmly believe that this entire report could have been resolved with a modreq. If my actions warrant a ban, I’m happy to accept the decision.

Edit: Exact date of my 'Slayer' character can be traced as far back as April, 2018 according to NameMC skin history. This predates the Season 1 debut of Goblin Slayer by about 22 weeks.
