Preface; 

For too long dueling in Ravenmire has gone without rules. Therefore, I believe that we must set a precedent for laying down the rules in the name of Ravenmire and God Almighty for this classic Ravenfolk pastime. 

 

Act I.

 

§I-I

The sport of dueling shall now have a strict set of rules when played in the realm of Ravenmire or by any member of a Levy in these Ravenstates. 

Any Person found breaking these laws will face a punishment equivalent to the rule break.
 

§I-II Rules of Duel;

Duels against an adversary of Ravenmire in battle maybe disregard the rules of this act

 

  1. Duels may have their rules changed if both parties agree upon it before the duel starts. Dueling to the death is strictly prohibited unless given sanction by the sovereign of Ravenmire. 

 

  1. Duelers must use standardized weapons from the list below or else face a fine or punishment.
  • Common Wood/Ferrum/Steel/Aurum/Bronze/Slayer Steel Shortsword, Longsword, Polearms, Spear, Warhammer, Mace, Daggers, Rapiers, Polearms, Spear
  • Common Wood Shortbow or Longbow
  • Ferrum/Steel Crossbow or Hand-Crossbow
  • Fists with or without Gauntlets, Gauntlets may be made of Ferrum/Steel/Aurum/Bronze
  • Cannon if agree upon ((Only for Duels to the death))

 

  1. In a duel area that may not be targeted included by any party in the duel include the head, the groin and the neck. 
  2. No Individual or Parties involved may take a limb from an opponent unless a member of a holy order approves of the taking of a limb along with a Noble of the rank of Count or higher. 
  3. No Kha’s or Musin or Darkspawns are allowed to duel unless a member of the mother church allows it. As they should all be killed on first sight unless ordered not to.  
  4. Magics may be allowed if both parties a magi, if not magics must be agreed on and a member of the church or a knight must oversee the duel.
  5. Anyone under the age of thirteen years of age may not duel unless they get permission from the head of their house or a member of the Parliament
  6. Any outside parties found throwing down weapons to assist a member in a duel shall be punished.

Act II.

§II-I Punishments for Breaking the Rules of Dueling

For anyone found breaking the rules of dueling, the punishment shall fit the crime. 

 

  1. Anyone found aiming for an area banned from Act I Section II Subsection IV of the Rules of Duel act shall be hit in an area which they have struck at least once or up to five times depending on the severity of the rule break.
  2. If anyone is found participating in a duel to the death unless exempted as per Act I Section II Subsection I , both parties shall be hanged by the neck until death.
  3. Anyone fighting a duel with a Darkspawn, Musin or Kha useless specified in subsection I - II V must pay a fine of at least 100 mina to the crown.
  4. Anyone found to bring in a weapon banned from the list in Act I Section II Subsection II without approval from their opponent shall lose their sword hand and if found to have replaced their hand with a prosthetic shall be hanged by the neck until death. 
  5. If anyone is found using magic Act I Section II Subsection VI without the permission of the other party they shall be blinded or beheaded by guillotine depending on the severity of the rule break. 
  6. Any children found dueling without permission of the aforementioned parties of  Act I Section II Subsection VII shall be lashed at least two times and up to four by an appropriate authority
  7. Any person found in breach of Act I Section II Subsection VIII shall have their weapons taken by the state or must pay a fine to the crown of 50 to 500 mina depending on the weapon. 
  8. Any person who is found in breach of  Act I Section II Subsection IV without the permission of the other party shall have to pay for a replacement or beg for forgiveness in front of the bishop of Rhosmark or the Holy Pontiff and write an apology of at least 1000 words.
