A Mistake

Panic.

The emotion he felt was pure panic. The blood of his friend coated his hand from where it had splattered onto him. The fire poker had been left behind once he had gotten into the safety of the city. No need to carry around evidence of his misdoings, of his crime, in public. Each breath came faster than the last as he curled up into his usual hiding spot, the space between two buildings he knew like the back of his hand.

Regret

He hadn’t meant to hurt her. It had been a mistake- one on her end. She shouldn’t have gotten close, she shouldn’t have tried to get that damn blanket on him. Deia should have known to stay away from him, she should have known he always chose fight.

Yet she didn’t.

And now? Now he had to deal with the consequences of what he had done.

The blood had now dried on his hand, feeling dry and stiff. The red stained the kimono he had carefully sewn with his mother- could he even call Tsuru that anymore? After what he had done, it was no doubt she would abandon him. He didn’t blame her. She was a good person, she didn’t need a trouble kid like him around her.

None of them needed him around anymore.

He’d clearly just cause more harm.

Was he going insane? It was the only logical explanation for what he had seen. The shadows twisting and warping, his friends face a monster. It would be safer for everyone if someone like him stayed away.

So no matter how much it hurt, he’d keep his distance from now on.

Protecting people is what Coi did best.
