The Ludovar family, deeply rooted in the traditions of Haense, observes a solemn and symbolic funeral ceremony that reflects their values of duty, honor, and resilience. This ritual, steeped in centuries of practice, is both a farewell to the departed and a reaffirmation of the family’s enduring strength

The ceremony begins with the priest of the Canonist Church delivering the Jorenic Rites. Once these sacred rites are spoken, a poignant tradition begins with that being the Crow’s Release. The head of the house sets a single crow free from its cage, symbolizing the soul's journey to the seven skies. It is also noted that as the bird takes flight, all present observe its path in silence, sharing the moment as a reflection and farewell.

Following the crow’s release, which represents the symbolic meaning of the soul’s journey, the lighting of the pyre marks the next step for this solemn ceremony. Before those gathered by the pyre, the deceased is placed upon a wooden pyre adorned with tokens that represent the Ludovar’s life and legacy. An event in which the head of Ludovar must ignite the pyre, using the family’s sword, the Light of Valdev. A ferrum sword, known for its blunt edge and its ability to ignite in flame, a sword only carried by the Patriarch or Matriarch of House Ludovar.

Once the head of the house ignites the flame, members of House Ludovar step forward, each carrying a torch to add their light to the pyre. With each torch added, it symbolizes honoring the deceased and ensuring the flame continues its burn, thus representing the strength and unity of the family in the face of a loss.

As the pyre burns, the head of Ludovar delivers the first address of farewell, honoring the life and the legacy of the deceased. Following this, the ceremony is officially open for those who are friends or family may come forward to offer their own words of remembrance and farewell, thus concluding the ceremony in a spirit of unity and shared grief.
