Lamentations of a Maehr

ȶhe beaches of Ramasar, the spires of Kruhso. In the distance they laid.

Aytheln, accompanied by his family, looked back at them one last time. They knew that this was the last time they were to set sail away from their homeland. This time, they would not return. Deep inside he knew this to be his doing, his fault. Their exile came only at the hands of Vel’obv elder. He vowed to never let go of them again, to never lose control. Whatever it would take, he would protect his kin.

He would not let them down a second time.

Yet he had failed his kin a second time, just as he had before. What had gotten over him? Nobody but Aytheln could tell. Perhaps the Maehr didn’t fully grasp these emotions himself. Was it truly an obsession to hold onto an ideology he deemed to be the only path forward for his kin?

It was as if years out of his life had never happened. A complete dissociation with reality. A need to escape, a need to run away. Their ship near Celia’nor, their growing Maehr community, their plans to establish something greater, gone in the blink of an eye. He vanished into thin air, leaving behind his Clan and all the other Maehr that he had met along the way. The result of an outburst? Was he desperate to run away from the consequences of his own actions?

This time seemed….different. All the work he had put into making Cauróst a home for his kin. It could vanish once again. Aytheln could turn his back on those he felt wronged by, he could so easily abandon everything. The easy way out, fleeing the consequences of his own actions, as he had so many times before.

Within the chambers of his yet to be named vessel, he sat on his bed. Walking back and forth aimlessly. He had been here before, but were things truly different? He would sit himself down eventually, taking a pen and piece of paper.

[!] A letter would be sent out to Istran, Naazeri and Koranth.

ȶhyleer,

I expect little in the way of forgiveness nor sympathy. The words we exchanged were harsh, needlessly so. I made a grave mistake, and am just as disappointed in myself, as I am sure you are with me. All I ask of you is time, a few moments so that we can sit down together and talk, one on one, about the events that took place.

I hope I can get that much out of you, so that we may be able to move forward from this all.

Another one of the Maehr sighed upon reading these words of his peer. His gaze was sent towards the moon for just a moment, as if looking forward wise words. It just is expected the moon did not answer. But Istrán spoke to himself,

"I'm still going to punch you."

And so he went on to do what he must.
