SUMMARY

The Market of Many is a central hub in the Orcish lands for trading shares and stocks of businesses and materials. It does not seek to make a profit but rather assist those who seek it themselves!

GLOSSARY

Spoiler

Dividend - A share of the profits to be given to investors.

Dividend Day - The day after Report Day.

Insurance Fund - An account owned by the Market of Many. This is to pay back investors should a company not report or leave the market or be used in Material Market payout.

Material Market - A market based on material goods, not based on company performance.

Report Day - Every other Saturday.

Share Market - A market based on volunteering companies, based on company performance.

Share - A signed paper representing one share in a company or material.

 

THE SHARE MARKET

COMPANIES: HOW IT WORKS

  1. A volunteer company declares it has stock for sale to the Market of Many, surrendering 25% to 50% of its profits (chosen by the company) as dividends to investors.
  2. Investors buy shares at a price from the Market of Many, starting at an initial public offering (IPO), usually 30 to 50 minas per share, or otherwise declared by the company. 
  3. The share mina and report are then delivered to the company at the earliest convenience.
  4. Before every other OOC Sunday, known as Report Day, companies turn in a profit report and the minas described in step one.

INVESTORS: HOW IT WORKS

  1. Investors buy shares at a price from the Market of Many, starting at an initial public offering (IPO), usually 30 to 50 minas per share, or otherwise declared by the company.
  2. Transactions between investors are expected to be reported to the Market of Many before every other OOC Sunday, known as Report Day.
  3. On Dividend Day, Saturday, or the following dates, investors present their shares to a representative of the Market of Many to collect their dividends. Dividends are split between investors based on how many shares they own in the company. 
  4. Investors have until the next Report Day to collect their dividends, or their funds will be returned to the investor or placed in the insurance fund.

 

THE MATERIAL MARKET

MATERIAL MARKET: HOW IT WORKS

  1. Investors buy or sell a certain amount of material shares at a price declared by the Market of Many, usually 5-10 minas each.
  2. Every Dividend Day, the Market of Many evaluates the material and posts data to be seen publicly. These come with multiple factors, including conflict and events.
  3. The market rolls a 1d5 plus or minus any modifiers during special events and player interaction. This includes advantages and disadvantages, as described by this post. All rolls as rounded to the nearest half, with disadvantages rounding down and advantages rounding up. See the chart for roll result details.

Consumables

A resource vital for survival, especially in the desert. Includes all kinds of meats and crops alike.

Butchered from animals (or other people) to be cooked and eaten.

 

Crops

 

Harvested from the fields, necessary for sustaining a population.

 

Herbs

 

Used for cooking as well as alchemy.

 

Cactus Green

 

Cactus Green is smoked by orcs and shamans. It is a drug with relaxing properties. The World Cactus is believed to produce a very potent cactus green known as Rex’s Widow. The most potent strain of cactus green in history is known as Thunder’Krug. However, the process of making it has been lost to time.

 

Guzzoline

 

Produced from a unique gravel, this thick, pitch-dark liquid is a popular beverage famously brewed by Clan Raguk. The Raguk, Kaptin Fizhbref, invented the substance in Almaris. Witch Doctors use the liquid for certain rituals because they believe it is connected to Kinul, the spirit of disease, pestilence, and failure.

 

Mushrooms

 

Hallucinogenic mushrooms are a staple of Goblin society. It causes visions to those who ingest it, said to be messages from the spirits themselves. Madcaps, in particular, are a core part of the culture of Clan Shrogo.

Materials necessary for production of goods and shelter.

Metals

 

Metals and ores of the deep are used for smithing tools and weapons alike.

 

Stones

 

Materials often found in the building of Orcish homes include all kinds of rocks.

 

Bones

 

Often used in shamanic rituals and decoration.

 

Hide

 

Cut from cattle, oxen, and other animals. Used primarily for clothing and armor.

 

Textiles

 

Cloths of all kinds. Used for clothes, banners, and tents.

 

Wood

 

A core component for building as well as crafts.

Maximiano glares at the missive, crumpling it in his hand as he raises his fist dramatically to the sky and shouts "DAMN YOU PONTIFF!! FIRST THE ORC WAR I WORKED SO HARD TO STOP IS STARTED AGAIN, AND NOW I CAN'T EVEN TRADE STOCKS BECAUSE ITS RUN BY THOSE VERY SAME ORCS?! GAH!"
