THE RETURN OF THE ROUENNAIS

For many years, the Patriarch-Dynast of Ashford, Robert of Ulmsbottom, awaited the coming of his heir, Roger of Bourdon, to Aevosi shores. And lo, the forces of the Rouennais have come, having been presented before the Duke and Duchess at the Court of the Morvelyn, in the year of Our Lord, 2023. For Robert did render such steadfast fealty unto Their Royal Highnesses, having served as Captain within The Honourable Free Company of the Lowlands, so shall his devotion be repaid. Thus has His and her Royal Highnesses seen fit to bestow haven unto his son and heir, as well as the men beneath his charge. Let this missive stand as testament to the recompense rendered, and enshrine in perpetuity the bonds of amity between the Houses Alstion and Rouen.

I | The House of Rouen shall be afforded stewardship, maintenance, and rightful holding of the Castle Casquenova for a period of two years, free of any due. In this time, the Rouennais host shall garrison the castle and bear the charge of defending the northmost territories of the Duchy of Alba.

 

II | For the term wherein the Roger of Bourdon holds charge over the Castle Casquenova, the men of Rouennais host shall answer the call to arms of the Duke and Duchess of Alba, and stand in service to the Duchy of Alba as is meet and due.

 

III | For the term wherein Roger of Bourdon holds charge over the Castle Casquenova, the Duke and Duchess of Alba shall place under his charge a ward, John of Balamena, secondborn son of His and Her Royal Highness, that he be sent to serve as squire under Rouennais tutelage.

From within the walls of Castle Casquenova, Rosceline spoke Roger (@Vikenz)'s ear off in a way that she would be ashamed to have others witness, hope and naiveté for life embosoming her like an overbearing mother wanting her trapped in the warmth of childhood.
