THE BLOOD ALLIANCE OF ROUEN & AERT

 

ince the founding of the Houses of ROUEN and AERT, the two lines have stood as steadfast allies, their filial bond wrought of a threefold cause: a shared reverence for the way of the blade, a mutual disdain for the Petrine state, and a common belief in the supremacy of Man, whose throne is set above all others. Long have Rouen and Aert marched as brothers in arms and now, to the satisfaction of their patriarchs, these fraternal bonds shall be sanctified by oath and vow, in holy matrimony. This, to be made manifest by the nuptials of the Lord Carolus van Aert and the Lady Sança de Bruges, who shall forevermore bind their lines as kith.

 

 

 

THE NUPTIALS 

The union of Lord Carolus and Lady Sança, solemnized by the hand of Bishop Alexios, took place upon the 1st day of the Suns Smile, in the year of Our Lord, 2040, within the Chapel of Blessed Edmond of The Blackwald. To bear witness to this sacred vow the Prince of Blackvale, and his household, together with the Prince of Savoy, and his household were present. Thereafter, upon conclusion of the rite, both parties made their way to the Castle Waldemer, where revelries shall be held in honor of this blessed union, that of Lord Carolus and Lady Sança, as well as that of their Houses, now bound forevermore as cousins.

 

 

TERMS OF UNION

Upon the union of the Lord Carolus and Lady Sança, the Houses of Rouen and Aert shall henceforth be bound in blood and, from that day forevermore, stand joined as steadfast allies. Thus let the terms of this accord be set forth plainly, that all who look upon them may acknowledge and uphold them.

 

I | The Houses of Rouen and Aert shall, in perpetuity, recognize one another as patriarchs of their respective dynasties, those of Ashford and Aert respectively. Furthermore shall each House acknowledge the rightful claims and titles of one another. 

 

II | The Houses of Rouen and Aert shall never raise blades against one another and, when called upon, shall duly answer one another’s call, and take up arms in each other’s defence. 

 

III | The Houses of Rouen and Aert shall extend to one another free shelter and safe harbour throughout one another’s respective lands.

 

IV | The Houses of Rouen shall pay the House of Aert a dowry of five hundred minae upon the officiating of the union.

 

V | The House of Aert shall provide suitable lodgings for the Lady Sança de Bruges within the Imperial palace, as befits her station.

 

For these terms have been laid bare and made plain to all, let none presume to transgress upon them, lest they seek to condemn these sacred and holy vows. 

 

THE BLOOD PACT

And so in observation of the Eshaenveurd rite of alliance by pact of blood, Lord Roger and Lord Conraed shall convene over the grounds of the Ashfield, o’er which they shall bind their hands by acrid ribbon, representing unity through all affray, and be shed of blood as one body.
