Operation Wolfsbane

Tar-Zorzagar of Numendil conferred with Inquisitor Germanicus on the matter of Lycans and their infectious spread throughout the Empire’s adjacent territories. A deal was struck: The Inquisition would be given the authority to execute this particular mission (“Operation Wolfsbane”) in Petra to destroy a burgeoning nest of Maleficarum. Upon reaching the site, Germanicus and his followers observed foreign shrines, shrines to apocryphal Orcish spirits rather than to God. Letters were found upon the person of one man indicating that these folks were in direct collaboration with a fiend by the name of Mammon.

 

Mammon had been captured prior by the Imperial Guard and Dragon Knights for morphing into a Lycan in the cells, whilst being contained there alongside a second Lycan who was banished from the Empire, as recalled by the Sir Redgar Kildrakken in his official report of events submitted to the office of Knight Commander Honeywine. In conjunction with the information in our library from prior reports, as well as reports that pertain to other members of this coven who have been recurrently examined, it is clear that the affiliation alone shall suffice as reasoning for the executions.

Upon concluding that all four present were at the very least affiliated with Mammon, the four of them were set against the wall, and then mercilessly executed for their crimes. These include cannibalism, consorting with idolatrous entities, and fomenting a hive of Maleficarum right underneath the Duke of Petra’s nose. The existence of cannibalism within this house indicates that those present have likely been complicit in the murders of countless people and as a result, the house will be evicted and then examined, so that we might recover any remains that are interred there. While three of the people were unidentifiable, one of them was Mammon’s wife and another was an affiliate who carried personal letters detailing a close relationship.

 

For this reason, it shall be clearly enunciated for all those who seek to trounce the Empire’s laws on magic and forbidden sciences. If you collaborate with entities that exist outside the Church of Cannon, you shall be executed for your heresy. This includes spirit-binders, who are among the most despicable of sorcerers, and use their powers to spawn forbidden Necrolytes. Ghosts, Paleknights, and Wargs shall never be tolerated by the Imperial Government, nor shall we spare those who affiliate with them. While we did not capture the Lycan we were seeking, the mission is considered a resounding success because we have defeated all of the members who dwell within its lair, and very shortly that lair shall be torn down. The hunt for Mammon and their progeny continues and shall end once we have crucified them before the walls of father Grense himself.

 

MALEFICARUM REMINDER:
Maleficar or Maleficarum are persons who practice heretical forms of magic. Practitioners of Maleficarum are designated into three classes: Necrolytes, Apostates, and Fiends. Necrolytes refer to creatures of necrotic or ectoplasmic form, whereas Apostates are sorcerers capable of manipulating life-force, ectoplasm, or practicing demonology. Fiends are beings, such as Inferi or Vampires, who claim descent from a daemonic master such as Iblees. A Cursed Child is also classified as a Maleficar if not provided the Imperial Writ to live.
