— Freya’s goodbye. . . 
 

Freya banged on the grate doors her eyes narrowed in obvious anger. A piece of parchment clasped in her palm. When no one answered her mouth carved into a frown

“Darian?” She called loudly

 

”Freya. . . What are you doing here go back home.” Darian called back but soon fell silent

”Darian, why are ye-.” Freya was interrupted by a loud banging noise then the sound was no more.

 

“who goes there?” A deep voice called with unconcealed annoyance 

 

“Et es Freya Vespers, ay have come for mine husband!” She called back firmly 

the man stayed silent for a time before saying

 

“he has committed crimes against Numindil. He will stay here until we see it fit for him to leave.” The guard proclaimed, Freya scoffed with accusations 

 

“Tell me then, what has he done?” She said her tone hardened 

“that is confidential.” The guard proclaimed boredom laced his words 

Freya’s eyes ignited with a spark of emotion 

 

“when will he be released then?” She asked voice breaking with every word 

 

the guard did not answer, Freya repeated her words once more her voice shaking with anxiousness, nothing. . . Tears burned her eyes her hands trembling as she slowly backed away from the gate

 

“Ay will return for ye, Darian! Ay promise.” Freya exclaimed before she turned and fled from the walls, her eyes glistening with fresh tears as she went.
She had spoken for the first time in her life a venomous lie. . . She would not return, not for 27 years. She would never see him again, only in the woods beyond. . .
