Above all, merit and loyalty stand above blood, from the brotherhood of the esteemed imperial guards to the many bands that reside within the realms.  These prove that strength comes in the trust and relations held between brothers and sisters, blood or not. The Auberon’s embodies this psychology.

Pʜʏꜱɪᴏʟᴏɢʏ

Because of their vast range of characteristics, the Auberons don’t have a specific range of features and aesthetics, though those born directly from the original line tend to have a darker set of hair and pale eyes (Blue, Gray, etc.).  Darker shades can come around uncommonly.  Often, these eye hues are taken to the extreme, browns that are pushing on the edge of completely black, and at times even straight up black.  These dark and pale tones for the eyes are considered to be a potent tell for the family’s heritage.

for the mainline, the skin tone tends to be extremely pale, coming from their Highlander heritage and blood on both sides.  Certain members of the family carry Haense familial traits, and when exposed to the sun for long periods of time, can gain a dark tan.

They also tend to be on the higher end when it comes to height, often pushing around 6 ft tall to even 6’ 4’’ and above in extreme cases.

Most Auberons actually speak a multitude of different languages as their mother tongue, ranging from Auvergnian to Old Marian there is no specific language the house speaks making them multilingual, though they all share a common understanding of Esperanto, a proto language made from a vast amount of different dialects and languages, making such easier to learn due to the ease of both teaching, and learning due to the similarities held with their own languages.

Hello - Saluton

Even though Esperanto is considered to be the “Mother tongue” of House Auberon, most use the language as a form of coded speech more often than not, the Auberons will simply speak common.

Pꜱʏᴄʜᴏʟᴏɢʏ ᴀɴᴅ Bᴇʟɪᴇꜰꜱ

The Auberians are considered to be ambitious and strong-willed individuals, often stopping at nothing to achieve the goals they have set for themselves, even if such may get them in skirmishes and battles.  Because of this, there also tends to be a set of negative traits that follows the family like a curse.

ᴘʀᴀɢᴍᴀᴛɪᴄ

Because of their close ties to combat and at times militias, the Auberians are known to be more pragmatic than the average person.  At times, even pushing the line of cruelty with their simple and straightforward way of thinking.  Often, they take a more practical approach than a theoretical one, basing things on cold and hard logic more than on emotions.

ɪɴᴛᴜɪᴛɪᴠᴇ/ᴏʙꜱᴇʀᴠᴀɴᴛ

A double-edged sword of sorts when it comes to negative traits, most of the time, Auberians are considered to be very observant and intuitive, almost to the point of paranoia, though, it’s as much of a curse as it is a blessing.  It’s rather hard to get the jump on an Auberian; thanks to this odd trait, they tend to always be prepared for most scenarios, especially combat.  No Auberian will be found without at least a dagger hidden in their sock or a blade attached to their hip.

Though alongside negative traits, there come a few positives

Polite/Kind
Although Auberians can be harsh and cold, when the time calls for calmness and celebration, they tend to actually be kind and respectful to those around them.  They talk a lot and socialize with anyone they take an interest in.

Goofy/Silly

Despite their harsh-looking expression and cold attitudes, the Auberians can be considered goofy at times, often using slang and playful words to tease those around them.  Sometimes, they may even make a funny face or two out of the blue, especially when intoxicated. To put it simply, they make for enjoyable friends

Loyal

Loyalty is considered to be amongst one of the strongest traits of an Auberian. They will stay loyal to their kings, empires, and house members without fail, an oath to them being the most sacred and important thing to them.  So much so that breaking an oath can even cause an Auberian to be disowned and shunned from the family.

The Auberians tend to be followers of the True Faith as well as being Owynist, so much so that all children and relatives of the family are baptized before being fully considered to be integrated in the family.

Most, if not all, the children of the house are sent to the priests to learn about the faiths as well.
sw-ord.png

Cᴜʟᴛᴜʀᴇ ᴀɴᴅ Rɪᴛᴇꜱ

The Auberians indulge in a culture woven and created around survival, loyalty, and war. They are known to practice amongst themselves, and at times, they may be caught in the woods hunting for their own dinner, even though they may have the means to simply purchase what they desire.  They make sure not to let their wealth or status stand in their way of discipline and way of life.  Because to them, such can be taken away at any time.  At its core, the culture is deeply rooted in self-sustainment.

From this free way of thinking and their ties to the canonist faiths, there are a multitude of odd and quirky ‘rites/beliefs’  the Auberians hold onto.

Sᴄᴀʀꜱ  ᴀʀᴇ  ᴛʜᴇ  ʙʀɪᴄᴋꜱ  ᴏꜰ  ꜱᴀᴄʀɪꜰɪᴄᴇ

Once an Auberian is given a ꜱᴄᴀʀ, more often than not they will not get rid of that scar, until they slay the foe who has given it to them.  To heal the scar without doing such is considered an act of forsaking the vendetta against the person who has caused said scar.  Scars to the Auberian serve two purposes; First to remind them of how close death is when faced with the harsh reality of battle, and second to remind them of the vendetta against those who caused the wound.

A ᴄᴏɪɴ ꜰʟɪᴘ, ᴛʜᴇ ꜱᴀᴄʀᴇᴅ ᴡᴏʀᴅ ᴏꜰ GOD

To the Auberians, the coin flip is considered amongst one of the most sacred acts, being an intervention made by GOD himself when one can’t find an answer to their problems.  Because of this, no matter the circumstance, one must respect the results that come from the coin.  Often, if family drama comes to a boil, this is the sacred way that such will be ‘remedied’ for the word of GOD to them stands above their own

Oᴘᴘᴏꜱɪᴛɪᴏɴ  ɪꜱ  ᴀɴ  ᴀᴄᴛ  ᴏꜰ  ʟᴏʏᴀʟᴛʏ

To the Auberians to ᴏᴘᴘᴏꜱᴇ one’s belief and to argue on behalf of the house is considered to be the biggest act of loyalty.  For it shows care and passion for the family they partake in.  Because of this, at least once every 3 saint's weeks or at times sooner, depending on the heir’s decision, House Auberon comes together to discuss the state of things and their next approach.  This meeting often ends in a feast of sorts, or something playful, the heir making the decision and preparations.

Vᴇɴᴅᴇᴛᴛᴀ,  ᴛʜᴇ  ꜱᴀᴄʀᴇᴅ  ᴋɴɪꜰᴇ  ᴏꜰ  ʀᴇᴠᴇɴɢᴇ

When an Auberian has a ᴠᴇɴᴅᴇᴛᴛᴀ against another, more often than not, they will carve the person’s name into a weapon of their choice, using such to slay or finish the victim whose name taints the blade.  When an Auberian does partake in such an endeavor, all those related to the house member can not interfere, partake or help unless outright told otherwise by the vindictive.  Once the vendetta has concluded, the blade is reforged anew in a way to represent the victory and vanquish of their Vendetta

Vɪᴏʟᴇɴᴄᴇ  ɪꜱ  ᴛʜᴇ  ʟᴀɴɢᴜᴀɢᴇ  ᴏꜰ  ᴘᴀꜱꜱɪᴏɴ

If two Auberians find themselves in a deeply rooted squabble with each other, one fueled by drama or hatred, they have the ability to challenge each other to a fist fight.  The rules are fairly simple: you fight until you place your feelings aside for each other, no matter the victor, both participants must shake hands and come out of the fight, their troubles and ill beliefs vanquished.

Oᴜᴛꜰɪᴛꜱ ᴀɴᴅ Sᴛʏʟᴇ

The Auberon’s dress in a very stylish but straight forward way, often their outfits will adorn gold and garments, even ties but they will often be made of leather, and also serve a secondary purpose. Such as having, multiple pockets or having hidden compartments for blades.  To put it simply, they tend to dress flashy and noble whilst still having outfits with technicality and usefulness.  Cloaks are also commonly associated with their dressing style, thanks to its added stealth and general pleasing aesthetic.  Leather gloves, and normal gloves as well are considered a commodity with these dresses though this heavily depends on the specific Auberon.

Iɴᴅᴏᴄᴛʀɪɴᴀᴛɪᴏɴ
There are a multiple ways for someone to enter the Auberon family, the common ways are as follows.

Birth Right

Anyone born within the family is considered a part of the family by heritage.

Adoption

Anyone adopted within the family with the support of the heir and its members becomes immediately integrated within the house.

Request

One can request to join the family but if such does happen, a trial will occur, one focusing on connection with the house and its members.  This trial is decided by the heir themselves with the support and ideas of the other members of house if they so wish, one rite does come from this as well.

The rite to be Blood

Above all else merit proves above blood, so once the trial is concluded and one proves themselves a ritual takes place.  Where, with a mundane blade the heir will cut an open wound in their palm as well as the soon to be Auberon's, with a firm shake a blood pact is completed between the two.  And officially, both the heir and the new Auberon are considered tied by blood, brothers, sisters, nephews and uncles.  Adopted relatives may also undergo this rite, though a trial isn’t a requirement.

sw-ord.png

H ᴇ ɪ ʀ

Within the Auberon family there lays a single hierarchy, that being of its members and the eventual ‘heir’ of the family.  This heir is in charge of the most important family decisions, they also overlook any rites taken within the family as a way to legitimize them.  Though, extremely major decisions are usually not decided upon by themselves, a family vote is held in these certain scenarios though, it is possible to make such decisions without the rest of the house, such being heavily looked down upon, being seen as a sign of disloyalty and distrust.

With their position, the heir has a multitude of rites they may call upon as well as rites against them.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴠᴏᴛᴇ, ᴍᴜʟᴛɪᴘʟᴇ ᴠᴏɪᴄᴇꜱ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴏɴᴇ

When the Auberon heir wishes to make a decision that will heavily involve or change the family, they must call upon a meeting where they will discuss and debate their plans with the rest of the family.  Often, the Auberians believe that many voices are better than one, especially ones that oppose the idea presented before them.

ʀᴇᴛɪʀᴇᴍᴇɴᴛ, ᴛᴏ ᴀᴅᴠɪꜱᴇ ɴᴏᴛ ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴀᴅ
When the Auberon heir decides to leave their position, they may choose to become an Advisor to the newly chosen heir acting as a helpful hand on the shoulder, or a cane they may lean one in major times of need.  Though, such a position can be refused by the new heir, if they feel as if they don’t require the aide.

ᴅɪꜱᴏᴡɴᴍᴇɴᴛ, ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ʀɪᴅ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡʀᴇᴛᴄʜᴇᴅ
There are a multitude of reasons as to why an Heir would wish to disown or banish one of their own kin, often acts of disloyalty, or breaking an Oath will cause such rite to be used though, this unlike most, this REQUIRES the family’s input before enacted.

Within the house, the Auberians also have a specific rite directed against the Heir

ɪᴍᴘᴇᴀᴄʜᴍᴇɴᴛ, ᴛʜᴇ ʟᴏꜱꜱ ᴏꜰ ᴄᴏɴꜰɪᴅᴇɴᴄᴇ ᴠᴏᴛᴇ
If most of the Auberons believe that the heir is not up to par, and they have lost the confidence in their leadership they may hold a vote to forcefully remove said heir from their position of power, if such vote is positive and most vote for the Impeachment, the heir must be promptly removed from their position, if physical force must be administered the heir will also be disowned on grounds of betrayal and disloyalty otherwise they may stay and even run as heir again in the future.

Upon one of the couches within the palace of Petra, Circe sat reading through the many letters she received the past few days, some positive, some negative. After skimming through each, she stumbled upon a missive written by her own son. Taking more attention to read this one than the letters regarding her one of her daughter's latest transgressions, Circe finally smiled, the face of a proud mother.

"I knew he would achieve greatness; I should write to my boy when I am able to. I wonder what else he will do in the coming years…"

After the missive was read, she put it away, continuing on with her day.

Hey, I really don't mean to be rude, but did you happen to take inspiration off of

? The color schemes are similar, as are the traditions, voting for the heir, blooding new ppl, the language. I understand Edgar comes from de Senna, but at least credit / ask us in the future please 😥

Ser Leif Azuolas read over the missive, a grin appearing on his face.

"Make me proud, son." he muttered from the skies as his eyes finally fell upon the last part of the missive. He had always hated that title; it felt wrong, but this one time, he was glad to have once borne its weight.

I think the one tradition i really liked from the de Senna was the fire Bloodening which i took inspiration for, but other then that i didn't realize the language and especially traditions / culture were similar at all, The color scheme to be honest with you went through the shredder multiple times, you can ask anyone who i was showing my code of arms to it changed A LOT until i found a plate that i enjoyed.  If i made anyone annoyed i do apologize trust me it was never my intention to copy some aspects of your family. I'll add you to the credits. And now that you mention it, i'll go back on the color board to try another set of colors again.  Thanks for telling me this 👍.  This is a swift edit but i wanna explain that, i left the details of how someone becomes an heir completely out of it. So all the rites involving the heir are ones that the heir themselves can invoke, other then impeachment obviously. At least for now, no one knows how an heir is made or how they come into power and that's fully intentional, there's another post i'm making that gives a look at the family from the inside though obviously, it won't be public like this one here.

Anyways, TL:DR I apologize if you feel copied it wasn't my intentions, i'll be making changes to make sure especially to the color scheme.

The First Son of Lotharia sat upon the walls of Perduran, a smile cracked over his face as he read the missive,

"Perhaps he did learn a thing or two from us after all those years."

Proudly did the Greye fold up the missive and put it in his satchel. Regardless of their opposing sides in the war, Adrian desired nothing more than to see him succeed.
