PREAMBLE

Brothers and Sisters of Norland. Hear these words. Our tribe has endured much. War has scattered us like leaves to the Northern winds. Many among you now walk these lands, displaced, severed from your homes and hearths. I have watched you all wander without direction. Your hands grow idle, and your spirits slowly dim. This cannot stand.

AND SO IT SHALL BE, BY THE WILL OF THE FATHER,

HIS MAJESTY, Haraldr Sigmar Haakonsson,

King of Norland, High Chieftain of the House of Ruric, Jarl of Vjardengrad & the Lowmarch, Blood of the Herald & Lord of the Ashwood Throne, Protector of the Highlanders

titles, descending from greatest to lowest

HER EMINENCE, Sissel Freysdóttir av Ruric,

Master of the Order of the First Flame, High Keeper of the Red Faith & the Flame Imperishable,

HER HIGH LADYSHIP, Ilse Haakonsdóttir
Daughter of the Herald - First of His Line, Lady of The North, Huskarl and Quartermaster of the Northern Host

Henceforth… let it be known that the age of the freeloader has ended. The faith teaches us purpose. Our soul is tempered; a warrior without a blade is merely just a person. A person without purpose is a shadow that dwells in the heart and soul. We are not cast shadows. We are the tribe of Norland. And we shall not fade into the annals of forgotten tribes. This decree is not punishment, but it is restoration. Order is mercy when chaos otherwise rules. Every man, woman, and able-bodied person must stand together as one. The Tribe of Verdengrad. For a people only survive when each must bear another's weight. To take without giving is rot to all. We are not the Southron. We do not function for self and self only. Understand this truth, taught by our Elders, proven by our history: Community is both comfort and obligation. And the Shield wall will not hold for those who do not intertwine their arms with another.

Each of you shall be seen. Every child upon their eighteenth Winter shall be seen. Each of you will be placed. According to both desire and merit, and the ability of needs. Some will labour with the body, others with the mind. No calling is beneath honour when it serves our tribe as a whole. You are not all of the Faithful. But you are ALL of the tribe. A tribesman may hold more than one title should they wish

The Farmer sustains the warrior
The craftsman preserves the healer
The scholar guards our memories against decay
And the faithful keep the flame from guttering in the dark.

To those who deny. There will be no martial punishment. But you will be declared a Skamelar. To those who freeload or feed upon the tribe like a parasite with giving little in return.

THE CALLINGS OF NORLAND

To Those Who Work the Earth - Our Farmers and Providers
The Agricultural head of Norland: Relad Orison
Farm hands: Vitharr Gwndelyn, Yelizveta, Fenrick Storm, Eren

The land does not yield to the weak. We need those who will till, plant, and harvest. We need those who tend livestock and gather leather for our craftsmen. Your labour feeds our future.

To Those Who Seek Knowledge - Our Book Scouts and Lorekeepers

Book scouts: Aldith, Avello
Lore Keepers: Isadora

Our library stands incomplete, its shelves crying out for wisdom on metals, beasts, and the deep magics. Venture forth and return with knowledge. Every tome recovered is a victory against ignorance.

To Those Who Mend the Broken - Our Healers

Head of Healing: Yelizveta
Combative Medic: Kira
Students: Talathel,
Fenrick Storm, Newt

Flesh tears, bones break, spirits falter. We need hands skilled in the healing arts to shoulder this sacred burden alongside our current healers. Your compassion is your strength.

To Those Who Master the Brew - Our Alchemists
Alchemists:
Students needing teacher: Avello, Newt

Potions are scarce, yet their need is great. If you possess this knowledge or seek to learn it, step forward. We shall establish a tradition of the brewing arts that will endure.

To Those Who Foster Fellowship - Our Tavern Keepers

Head Bar Keep: Brothers Man Ulfric, Severe, Njall, Fenrick Storm

The heart of a tribe beats loudest in its gathering places. We need souls who will tend the hearth, pour the mead, and cultivate the bonds that hold us together through laughter and song.

To Those Who Delve Deep - Our Miners

Miners: Yelizveta, Vitharr Gwyndelyn, Fenrick Storm

Iron does not mine itself. We require organised efforts to extract the wealth of the earth—not merely mechanical expeditions, but true fellowship of the pick and lantern. Share the burden and the glory alike.

To Those Who Guard - Our Hirdmen
Current Hirdmen: Vitharr Gwndelyn, Fenrick Storm

The shield wall is only as strong as those who stand within it. We seek warriors to train our kin in the ways of combat, to organise our defence, and to forge the next generation of protectors.

To Those Who Craft Beauty - Our Seamstresses and Artisans

Yelizveta

Cloth and custom make us distinct. We call upon those skilled with needle and design to create the garments and skins that mark us as Norland's own.

To Those Who Preserve Memory - Our Bards and Skalds

What is a great deed if one remembers it? We need voices to sing our battles, pens to record our victories, and tongues to spread our reputation across the realms. You are the keepers of our immortality.

To Those With Compassionate Hearts - Our Wayfarer Coordinators
Coordinator: Fenrick Storm

War creates refugees. Disaster displaces the innocent. We need those who will organise care for the displaced, both our own and those who seek shelter among us. Extend the hand of kinship to the lost.

To Those Who preserve a roof over the heads of our tribe - The stewards

A home is required for all. Our stewards will be required to aid those in finding suitable refuge. Names of new homeowners will be taken and sent in the direction of the Hearth to ensure they find their place in this tribe.

To Those Who Build - the Architects

There are no walls without our architects and Builders

Roles and Responsibilities Within Norland

Farmers and Providers
IGN: LuckD9 - Player : Relad

Farmers will place bread into the donation chest and collect leather from our barns. Those entrusted with this role will be awarded different keys granting access to specific barns. Your labor feeds the tribe and supplies our craftsmen. The land does not yield to the idle, and your work sustains our future.

Book Scouts and Lorekeepers

You will be invited into the library and its inner fold. Donations of books are greatly appreciated. For certain genres, you may be tasked with scouting specific tomes, gathering their prices, and receiving a lump sum of mina to purchase and return them to the library. Our shelves cry out for knowledge on metals, beasts, and deeper lore. Every book recovered is a victory against ignorance.

Healers

Those inclined toward medical roleplay are encouraged to step forward. When the bell tolls for a healer, you will be among those trusted and pinged through Discord. You shoulder a sacred burden, mending flesh, bone, and spirit alongside our current healers.

Alchemists

You will be entrusted with ensuring the playerbase remains educated in alchemical practice. Lessons will be taught in a TA-to-TA format. You may outsource the gathering of herbs and nodes to others. You are entitled to keep a portion of your craft for profit, while ensuring enough stock remains available for the wider playerbase. This tradition of brewing must endure.

Tavern Keepers

You will keep all the money earned from your sales and are expected to provide the tavern with a steady supply of meals and drinks. The heart of the tribe beats loudest in its gathering places. Through laughter, song, and shared tables, you foster fellowship.

Miners

We need resources. Organised mining trips, ore collection, and material runs are required. These should be roleplay-focused, not merely mechanical expeditions. You will be compensated for your labour. Share the burden and the glory alike.

Hirdmen

These are warriors not entirely of the standing army, but trusted to teach CRP to those new or wishing to pursue the combat side of the server, both in roleplay and out of character. The shield wall is only as strong as those who stand within it.

IGN: SamaelYwach: Vitharr

Seamstresses and Artisans

We call upon those skilled in skinning and player skin custom design. Figura and RP mechanics are encouraged. Cloth and craft mark us as Norland’s own.

Bards and Skalds

You will write songs, compose tales, and provide music that will live through the ages, documented in Norland’s history. What is a great deed if one remembers it? You are the keepers of our memory.

Wayfarers

For those who enjoy helping new players. You will befriend, guide, and aid them both in RP and OOC. Scout out newcomers and invite them to Norland if it suits their character and story. Extend kinship to the lost.

Stewards

Stewards will use an Excel ledger to organise roles, placements, and assignments. You are the unseen hands that keep order flowing.

Builders

To those capable of building, we require you for projects on the build server. Structures may be schematicaed into the world, such as stables, hearth temples, and civic works. These builds are considered your character’s contributions in roleplay.

Renna found the fresh missive after looming more linen. “I suppose I could offer some knowledge and create more outfits.”

Arvia checked her mailbox and found the paper, reading it over before deciding she needed to get back behind the bar counter.

Relad was brought up to speed about as quickly as a stern mule is made to drink, but by the Allfather's grace and patience he does understand.

"Head of Agriculture?" He had asked the High Fleeper herself. Relad had never expected to be someone important in his life, let alone leading the foundational building blocks for something this important. "Does that make me a member of the Red Council like good Livius or Iulius?"

The once-serf would have dozens of questions, but time will be the woman to answer them, perhaps not the busy High Keeper. Still, he took the role with pride and the ease of knowing he would just be doing more of what he already loved to do.

Talathel was brought up after studying the group of people like he does with everyone for the past 31 years.  He was handed the missive, with a tilted head he read it, finally having a importance rather than just standing around.

"Healing is most likely something I would enjoy doing and would be most helpful for... but unfortunately, at this time i have not learned to do so" he had explained to the high keeper, questions had filled his mind, but they were tucked away for later not wanting to start any unnecessary distractions

Fenrick was cleaning and oiling his greatsword, Vörðr, in his living room, only a few hours back from his training on the snowy mountains, when he heard a tap outside his door. He went to open it and saw only a glimpse of a black avian flying away with two pieces of paper fallen in front of his door.

A raven. It has dropped missives -- one from the High Keeper, the other from the High King.

A calling. To arms. To serve.

He only needed to close his eyes and say, "I answer the call, All-Father."

Then, he put down the missives and got back to oiling his weapon. It would be an opportunity to learn other crafts and skills.

More training awaits.
