A CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP

“Be our hearts merry or be they frozen, a tapestry continues to be woven.”

IT IS MY BELIEF That an office held too long under one individual is an office stagnant, an office of antiquated ideas and weary leadership. If any arm of government is going to continue to adapt to the circumstances of our present day, it must eventually be turned over to the young- After all, it is the young who are less saddled with the biases of the past, and focused only on shaping their oncoming future.

I, Cameron Reinhold, have served as Grand Treasurer of the Petra for thirty-five years. In this time I’ve found that the work of any Treasury is the true invisible backbone of a state. Though many may look at our duties and see monotony, I have earnestly enjoyed every moment of carrying the mantle. When little in life was certain, I had my work to fall back on, and the knowledge that I was serving my nation. Holding this seat upon the River Council under first Archduke Therin I, and then Archduke Joseph I, has been the greatest honour of my life. It may be only my belief in the necessity of new leadership that brings me to this announcement, given my care for this office and all who labor within it.

This missive marks my official retirement from the office of Treasurer, effective upon the date of its publishing. Though I will miss my work, I step away with utmost confidence in the man who will take my place. I have spent the past six years training a successor in all aspects of the Treasury’s function, and he could not be more prepared for the responsibility of the office. He is young, clever, idealistic, and will certainly outpace my legacy with his own.

HIS EXCELLENCY, JEAN-BAPTISTE AUCLAIR

GRAND TREASURER OF THE PETRA

The young Lord Auclair would take a look at the missive, not smiling as much as he normally would at such news due to other reasons. In either case, a faint grin would appear upon his countenance regardless. "Merci, Caz. Merci." The man would state for himself, taking a deep breath before offering a single, determined nod, making his way to the city's town hall. "Well! Those taxes will ne collect themself pas on their own.."
