Honored judges of Urguan,

Before proceeding further in this matter, I respectfully submit a motion requesting that the Court exercise its authority to ensure that relevant testimony may be gathered in a fair and orderly manner.

Given that many individuals within the realm live upon different sleep and work schedules to their vassals and cannot always attend proceedings in person, I ask that the Court permit and compel witnesses to provide testimony in one of the following ways:

1. To appear in person before the Court and give a witness statement.

2. To submit a written testimony to be entered into the record.

This motion is made to ensure that justice is not hindered by distance, time, or circumstance.

Legal Standing

Any individual compelled by the Court who refuses to comply without reasonable cause may be subject to the applicable provisions of Section 7.8, and any fines or penalties issued shall be paid to the treasury of Urguan.

Any individual who gives testimony, written or spoken, shall be bound by  Section 7.6  regarding perjury, and any fines or penalties arising from false testimony shall likewise be paid to the treasury of Urguan.

These provisions are not requested as punishment, but as a safeguard to ensure truthful and reliable testimony before this Court.

Clarifications Regarding Testimony

To preserve fairness:

• Members of the Frostbeard clan shall not be compelled to testify against their clan member due to potential conflicts of interest, but may do so voluntarily if they choose.

• The accused, Grungot Frostbeard, shall not be compelled to testify or self-incriminate, but may choose to make a statement and would then be subject to cross-examination like any other speaker.

• Any individual who gives testimony voluntarily or under summons remains bound by the laws regarding truthful testimony.

This motion is not made to burden the Court nor the people of Urguan, but to ensure that testimony may be gathered fairly and that justice may proceed on the strength of evidence rather than absence.
