Act I: Departure - Living on your Stories

⋅ ────────────────⊱ ⊰──────────────── ⋅

Since the time of his birth, Godfrey, Son of Josef Audemar, had been brought up on the stories of his family: The Noble House of Amador.
Snug beneath the covers of his bed every night with his wooden toy-sword, his father would regale the seven-year-old Godfrey with the chronicled histories of their family, mainline-and-beyond, that had stretched since the time of Asulon for generations. Stories of:

  • Jack & Jiraiya, the founder-brothers who sailed far from their Adunian home to Conquer the Renatus Holy Lands.
  • Daniel Amador, whose diary told scary stories of the daemons that followed Amador from the Fall of Asulon.
  • Holy Ser Arthur I, the youngest holy knight of his time, who fought the Mother Church during the Schism War.
  • Ser Arthur II, the rags-to-riches orphan who became Commander of the Archduke of Lorraine's Honourguard.
  • Holy Ser Dorm Amador, who was blessed by the Pontiff of his time by being granted the right to bare the Holy Lorraine as the House's Sigil.
  • Grandmaster Holy Ser Leonid Amador, who led the All-Saints' Knights to defeat the Cultists of the Wick Wood.
  • Ser Karl, who defeated the Rimeveld Trolls & became the Knight Paramount of Hanseti-Ruska.
  • Bossiras Natilya, who led the family during the Mori'quessir wars.
  • Bo Rostova, who after being cast out, fought various wars and forged a Kingdom that became the Ravenmarch.
  • Albus Henrik Brian Amador, the wizard of Blackwell tower who, together with his father Ser Radmir & their cousins Ser Sterling Whitewood & Aurelia, slew Fenrir the Cerberus, the infernal hellhound.

All the myths and legends that filled the young boy's head with dreams of adventure; a wide open world to discover, filled with wonderous sights & terrifying Monsters. He dreamed soundly each night, clutching his bed-sheets with the thoughts of bringing Light into the world, defeating the daemons and fiends that his famous ancestors had faced. Each morning, Godfrey would get up out of his bed and go out into the streets, running around gleefully as he pretended to be one of those noble knights or a powerful wizard.

Until, One Night...

⋅ ───⊱ ⊰─── ⋅

He was alone.

Alone in his room, with the covers around his shoulders and clutching the wooden sword beneath the sheets. His father had not returned from his day out working and yet he had heard nothing, none of his relatives seemed to know, but insisted the boy take to sleep. Their faces were a picture of dread that the young Godfrey had not seen since the death of his Uncle, whom the boy had barely known.

In the middle of the night with naught but a candle at his bedside, no one came to read the boy his bedtime story, so he plucked one of the books from the shelf and opened it upon the bed. He sat crosslegged as he flicked through the pages and read slowly along the tale of the founders for the umpteenth time as a slow realisation washed over him like the waves that lapped against Alba's shores.

He would do as his ancestors had done. He had lived in the ordinary and would now venture out into the wide world of Azuras and become like his ancestors. He would find a Mentor, like Ser Hildebrand did for Ser Karl or like Albus did for Aurelia & Karl Falkner; a Mentor who he could say:

"Teach me how to be a Hero!"

He wasn't afraid!

He was fearless.

Taking a small bag from underneath his bed, he would pack some bread from the family kitchens, his favourite book and his toy-sword. A few coins from his bedside table, saved from doing chores for his father, were stashed away in his pocket. Knowing he would be missed, he quickly penned a small letter for the Amadors before he blew out the candle light and simply walked out of his bedroom and away from home.

To Uncle Elijah & Aunt Lilibet,

Sorry that you won't see me in the morning.

I know you're going to be worried for me.

I hope this letter helps.

I'm going in search of adventure.

I want to be a Hero.

And yes, Auntie, I took the bread from the pantry.

Sorry!

I'll be going to Idunia!

I hope I can find a Teacher there.

I promise to write.

Godfrey

OOC:

Spoiler

Hello everyone,

It has almost been two full years since I have played on Lord of the Craft, but I can say with no hesitation, that this is my comeback character.

I have taken a long time (definitely longer than most!) to grieve for the passing of my previous character, Albus Amador.

His story has served as an inspiration to me to get back into the game, but the long downtime has given me a lot of opportunity to read the forums and appreciate the players who came before, during and after Albus. I have enjoyed reading along with people's stories, and so I have made this new character as a reflection of all that reading during my downtime. And yes, in the time I have been gone, I happen to have found Epic the Musical and I love it.

I hope to see you all and potentially RP with you in Azuras.

And to the ST & LT, be prepared to see me at some of your events in the future.

MarquisAlex.

A letter written, left with the aviary keep in Alduun, was signed with the youths name in hopes that it was the capital his journey brought him to.

"Godfrey,

In times of war it is foolish to simply leave without saying goodbye. But know that you have safety in all corners of the continent.

Should your travels in Idunia bring you to the capital, Alduun, you may stay with me here should you wish. Until you are old enough to be this hero you seek.

Keep safe, nephew."

A small parcel was left for the boy; a key, a map of the capital, and a handful of mina for emergencies. Lili hoped it would at least see him safe.
